No, my problem is mainly how awkward an unnatural this guy looks.

And judging most scouting departments around that have him going mid-first round, I'd say I'm not exactly the only one having reserves.
A big part of the awkwardness is growing five inches in a little over a year. Give the kid a year to acclimatize.

How can you not like him? I don't understand

His understanding of how plays develop is too good to not get better defensively and more effective in the O-zone. He dangles because he can, not because he feels he has to.

I'm honestly baffled that Sennecke somehow became an acceptable top 5 pick in the last 2 weeks because some people on this board kept hammering his name and a cuckoo like McGagg loves him.

All the serious rankings right now have him outside of the top 10, with the majority having him at #14 or #15.

He's literally closer to a #20 pick than a #5 pick.

Yet, here we are...
But he got taller and had a solid playoffs.

Some quotes from NHL execs in the Elite Prospects guide:

“Dynamic, dynamic skater. Elite quickness. Elite speed. He can carry, create, and drive play. He’s a dynamic shooter and goalscorer. There are two kids this year, when I talk to other scouts, you guys have just been watching this kid too long. He’s a special player. He was the best player at the Hlinka. He shredded the WHL on a weaker team. Doesn’t seem like a lot of NHL people want to give him credit for that. Pretty safe that he will be a second line centre, power play guy in the NHL. I feel he’s been over-scouted. We should be talking about him, top five, top ten. Now I see some lists where he’s 16. I just think that’s crazy.” – NHL scout, June 2024

“Every night, every coach was game planning to stop him specifically, and he still scored over 50 goals and almost 120 points while killing penalties and playing a premium position. Don’t overthink this one, he’s a top prospect.” – NHL scout, May 2024

“He’s the complete package in a sub-six-foot body. Excelled on a weak Spokane team and oozes character.” – Western Conference Scout, May 2024

“He’s dynamic off the rush. Wicked shot. Isn’t afraid to charge into hard areas to make plays. Just needs to add weight and battle more.” – Western Conference Executive, May 2024

“He’s not a centre, but he’s skilled enough that it doesn’t matter. Top-10.” – Western Conference Scout, May 2024

Problem simply is that if he does not reach his ultimate ceiling, like its not enough for him to be a 2nd line C and PP specialist. This type of player is frequently available/easy to acquire.

The potential 1C with size or top pair D with size will always be tougher to find and command an higher premium.

Personally, I think he's the most sure bet 1st line player (forward or defenseman) in the draft after Celebrini.

He may not have Demidov's ceiling, but there are zero question marks from me on his ability to produce at a high rate in the NHL.

I think he's underrated because he reminds people of Mitch Marner.

That skating, IQ, stick handling combo is only bested by Demidov tbh...

I wouldn't be surprised he goes top 2 in a re-draft.

Didn’t I read something here on HF that his skating was bad … like Caufield?

The above quote is from an NHL scout. lol

No, Iggy is barely eligible for the draft he's young, another year and you would regret taking him over Catton IMO
Wasn’t Brady Tkachuk a day a way from being in the 2017 draft?

Well there is definitely offensive star upside with Catton.
