they havent had Sauer for almost 2 years now.
losing Prust sucks, sure. but hes a 3rd liner at best.
that system is the problem. they have the best goalie in the league yet play prevent defense. it doesnt make sense. you play that type of system if you have Johan Hedberg as your goalie, not Lundqvist.
They did lose a couple of "sand paper" players and depth with guys like horseface, Prust, Rupp, Anisimov, etc...
They might be 3rd liners but you need 4 solid lines if you want to reach the finals, wich they had, but since they decided to screw up the core and identity of the team by landing Nash, they're right back to square one IMO.
To me, if we lost Carter/Gionta/Bernier, it would hurt our team just as much. They don't show up on the stat sheet all that much but they bring a dimension our top players just can't do.
Anyways, I'm glad they made that deal cause they're back to dressing a All-Star team with no chemistry, wich leads no where.
