Money and close to family. He's done everything he can/wants in the NHL. Why judge him?
Not judging, just wondering.
Poni the space junk!

That he is. Still pissed over him coming over, and floating like an invisible sputnik in outer space. Guy looked like he didn't wanna be here. Lou better know this, and not re sign him. Guy is garbage, and came close to spoiling memories of how great he was for us in 11-12.

Gotta imagine its either Red Wings or KHL. Would be really odd for it to be anywhere else in the NHL. You know... the whole tampering thing... Very real shot its an extension with the Red Wings and they just don't want to let them distract from anything while they're still playing.

He can't legally sign an extension until the final year of his contract which begins July 1, which would be a reason not to announce it.

So if he were to leave then next year would be his last in the NHL? Not this year?

His contract is up next Summer, but is this for next season? Or 14-15 that they're talking about?

He's under contract from 2013-14 and then is UFA. He can sign an extension on July 1, 2013 extending him form 2014-15 and beyond. He can't sign a contract with a non-Red Wing team, NHL or KHL, until July 1, 2014.

I really liked the Stars colors and jerseys, just not their logo. That's all they needed to change, I'm not a fan of that logo, but really how creative can you get when you're named the Stars?

I don't think any conclusions either way can be drawn from Lundqvist's statement. I certainly wouldn't mind it if he walks out on them, but I'm expecting him to stay.

wait - so the real perp sent the kid in his stead?

The teen contacted police, who discovered the motive for the attack when Harrell called to ask where Brancaccio and Sorg were, according to Torell.

So he knew Harrell, the real culprit, and was involved in some fashion. I don't think the kid is totally innocent here.

I thought the same, and it is still possible that this interpretation is correct.

But I think it's a badly written sentence.

The teen contacted the police. The police found out the motive when Harrell called (the arrested fans).

I think Lundqvist isn't saying anything yet because he's partly caught up in this past season, and partly because he hasn't yet decided if he cares most about location/money or if he cares about winning. The Rangers will probably pay him about as much as anyone. He's already making just shy of $7 mil a year. Can't imagine the Rangers would ask him to take a pay cut and I doubt anyone would offer too much above that anyway. I'm sure he loves living in New York, but if he wants to win, I'm sure he's getting the hint that this may not be the place where he could make that happen. At the very least, there are probably better options. That's probably the debate he still has to have, and of course talk to his agent about before saying anything.

Maybe he just happened to be a kid walking somewhere, Harrell said hey kid wanna make a few bucks and it escalated to where we are now with the story

I think they'll be back at it for one more year. after next year, Thornton, Marleau, Boyle, Pavelski, and Couture (RFA) are all free agents.

There are a couple spots that would offer a better chance to win. But last couple season's with NY they have enjoyed more playoff success then 75% of the league.

Pitt makes a lot of sense. Otherwise I don't see the market for a 34 yr old goalie that will make a ton of dough.

Doug Wilson is probably one of the best Gm's in the game today.

I just love how he can maximise assets, move players for picks in a very deep draft and yet, still ice a competitive team that brought the Kings to a game #7 and one win away from reaching the WCF.

That's the type of Gm I want when Lou will hand over his job to someone else.
