Was about to post it

Doing everything in their power to keep him

it's pretty funny that Henrik wanted him out as his system is best to help inflate his numbers, wonder what will happen if they bring in someone who doesn't want to run the 6 goalie system

Damn, not good. Hopefully it's not Tippett.
My guess is Vigneault.

They should trade Lundqvist, because I like Lundqvist and he's not winning anything with that team anyone soon, I think.

Lundqvist doesn't need Torts' crap system to have good numbers.

@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR BREAKING: John Tortorella has been dismissed as head coach of the Rangers, source confirms

Wow. Pretty crazy. I know he's a dweeb, but he has been by far their most successful coach in nearly 2 decades.

That's actually bad news for us Devils fans... Tortorella was going no where with his "6 men box" system.

Now, they have a shot at landing a solid coach. Maybe they'll look for a current assistant and who better then John MacLean to take over as a bench boss of the Rags :naughty:

I'm sure that Ruff would want the NYR job. He's used to so much stability, and you don't have a lot of that under Sather.

But considering how good of a coach he is, the NYR certainly should inquire with him.

And I agree, Lundqvist has big pads. But the league lets him, so what can we say? He's going to put up decent numbers with any system in front of him. You guys are like the people that say Marty is just from the trap. What hypocritical analysis.

Torts is a great coach but he overstayed his welcome. Sather is the real problem at MSG. Look at their cap situation going forward...

Francesa, first to report firing, said over last 48 hours Tortorella had a difference in opinion with management over direction of team.

AKA To buyout Richards, or not to buyout Richards

I'm curious how McDonagh and the entire defense goes under this transition from switching to a defensive style of play to a more offensive likely. (depends on who the next coach is)

I don't know why they (Sather) systematically blew up up a team that won the President's Trophy and came up a few games short of the 2012 SCF. That's where the Rangers went wrong. That team had good chemistry and an identity.

they were never winning anything with that system. you can't keep it up over a full playoffs, it doesnt work.
