That’s literally what it is though. And you’re right, I’m sure Maroon will be okay, but this is a broadcast that a million+ or however many are watching. He’s just perpetuating a pretty juvenile insult. At absolute best, it’s completely unprofessional…and given Edward’s long list of other incidents and comments that go way beyond harmless homerism (eg. actively rooting for injuries), he deserves to be called out by much more than just a handful of media memebers.

Listening to that, I'll be honest, I had the same thought as Frank. I really thought Jack sounded drunk.

I really do think he's had a minor stroke or something of that nature. He's been slurring his words, mixing up guys constantly and just overall not making any sense going back towards the end of last season. There have been times this year where just forming a basic sentence seems like a struggle for him...

Yea, was just goofing. Any league promoting gambling to the extent the NHL does, really has no moral authority to stand against something as minor or inoffensive as this. But I suppose the league is not addressing it, so all good.

Some claiming it's a "joke" because it doesn't effect them so everyone should get over it and "lighten up" because they're too dumb to understand that even if it is a joke to them or when they say, other people will use that apathy to legitimately abuse people using that same "joke". Aside from the bad look of making fun of someone's weight, the fact he's supposed to be professional and commenting on the play instead of insulting a player stands out as a reason this is wrong.

Imagine if Gord Miller doesn't call the action and instead just goes on and on about Matthews' gigantic nostrils or receding hairline for the entire shift. It would be completely unprofessional and unjustified for a play by play guy to spend his time on.
