I don’t mean to take blame off Edwards himself for his clownish behavior. But at least in terms of it being on television, I blame his employer (NESN).

He clearly is naturally someone who pushes “boundaries” and doesn’t filter like he should. Instead of getting him to tone it down, NESN has sort of just let Jack steer the ship and act in wherever way he wants with very little standard for 15 seasons. To the point where they kind of brand it and make a shtick out of it.

I do think he calls a good game for the most part (this is the part that other fans will pretty much never hear, understandably) but I don’t like the way he acts way too often.

And yes, it’s becoming more frequent and irritating with age.

I really don't care about the comments I am sure Maroon gets called fat on a nightly basis...his 3 cup rings help I would assume. Edwards does sound....off there though.

Bobby Ryan on twitter just said the same thing. He's been called Fat Pat since 7 years old; it doesn't bother him so the media heads talking about it is just your typical online " get outraged at everything ".

Edwards has been struggling to form full sentences for a couple of seasons now and it's starting to become more noticeable. The man is nearing 70.

When I hear this guy's commentary, all I can think of is that comedian that does the MLB rain delay spoofs (Frank Caliendo?).

Pretty soft to get offended by a light hearted comment that's followed up by praise for the same individual for being a winner.
if it was actually supposed to be a joke i'd say the only thing bad about it was the punchline. I'd disagree that just because if you praise someone before or after making a bad remark that it doesnt atone for it.

Example: Racists used that logic all the time back in the day. They make a derogatory comment towards someone and follow it up with but you're one of the good ones. They think its not racist because they praised the individual after.

I had to watch the NESN broadcast last night and he did sound like he was drunk or something. Sounded like he talked in slow motion.

I haven't disliked him in the past but speaking in slow motion and yelling at random points was pretty annoying.

Edwards has said like 10,000 things dumber than this.

Pro athletes get “fat shamed” all the time. Like all the time. They are literally in the industry of maintaining their bodies at top performance, so any time one of them seems fat they’re going to get talked about. This is not like calling out random people on the street for their body types. Bunch of nothing here.

I don't like Jack Edwards, but these are nothing comments.

He was trying to make a joke and it fell flat.

More cringe is Seravalli accussing him of "fat shaming" an NHL player...ugh. How will Maroon ever recover?

That’s literally what it is though. And you’re right, I’m sure Maroon will be okay, but this is a broadcast that a million+ or however many are watching. He’s just perpetuating a pretty juvenile insult. At absolute best, it’s completely unprofessional…and given Edward’s long list of other incidents and comments that go way beyond harmless homerism (eg. actively rooting for injuries), he deserves to be called out by much more than just a handful of media memebers.
