I see all the skinny, never-been-hated folks came out to comment how sad they think it is to get upset by this. Blame it on cancel culture or something

Why is it always the most privileged in society that feel the need to dispel the shortcomings and tribulations others have to go through?

Whats hilarious is 90% of these posters would fold like a cheap suit if offended by something that actually bothers them. But since it doesnt involve them, ' its just a millionaire being called fat guys whats the big deal '

id ask those who think this is nothing what offends them and how much they make but... nobody cares about them. but MAN do they care about others being offended or not and love dictating that for them
Firstly, what makes you think skinny people aren't hated? You obviously have a problem with them.

Secondly, what makes you think they are privileged? Do you have any clue what commitment and discipline it takes to be in shape?

Do you really think skinny people aren't body shamed by insecure, fat people? And why is it ok to tell someone they are skinny but not ok to tell someone they are fat?

I'm 56 years old and would like to retire when I'm 63. I started think about this in my mid-forties. I joined a gym at that point with the intention of changing my life so I would have some quality of life when I retire. 13 years later I'm in the best shape of my life and looking forward to a healthy retirement.

I've been told I'm too skinny....I need to eat a burger...etc.... I've been offended by these statements ZERO times. Why, because they come from people who don't matter.

Too many people want to be a victim. That's what society has pushed on the masses.

Don't be a victim. Be a champion. Stop pointing fingers and look in the mirror. It's obvious you're not happy with yourself and you're jealous of skinny people. Do something about it instead of crapping on a group of people you aren't a part of.

"Yikes, that person is so ugly.... but pretty kind!"

Let's all cheer for excellent sugar coating!
Except no one wants to be ugly and being heavy is an asset for a power forward. When it comes to the game, it's more akin to the length of the stick, if someone plays with an unusually long or short stick, they get attention for it, someone might even joke about it.

There's a reason hockey players get called "Big Rig" and "Big Buff" and not "Ugly Rig".

I guess here in Boston theres a connection with play by play guys and pizza.

I give you the late, may he rest in peace, great Jerry Remy.

Jerry Remy (RIP Jerry - we miss you) and Don Orsillo were truly magic together. Anyone who disagrees doesn’t have a humorous bone in their body and life must truly suck for them.

I think Jack Edwards crosses lines of professionalism once in a while, but honestly I don't think this one is all that bad.

I’m surprised some fat group hasn’t demanded Edwards have to resign after those comments. Nothing he said was offensive, and maybe he will inspire some people to put down their pizzas.

seems to me like the idea is that the players can talk about it, and broadcasters should maybe focus more on the play-by-play and less on taking unprofessional, agonizing jabs at the players.

Jack Edwards seems to think he's, like, Shaq and Charles Barkley-level and goes directly in on guys he should absolutely not be going in on because it's not his lane

Like I said, I think it should have maybe been a quick joke and that's it. Edwards kept going with it when it had lost its humour. To me there is no controversy, these guys are men, or are supposed to be.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with a little bit of colour in a broadcast too. It can get boring otherwise. Don Cherry has only been off the air for three years and already you see just how vanilla everything is. Maybe a Shaq/Barkley "tell it like it is" approach is better for some.

Homer? You do realize he works for a Boston sports channel right. Just because Sportsnet picks up the NESN feed nationally in Canada doesn't mean Jack isn't still announcing this game to and for Bruins fans in the New England area. He doesn't really give a shit how Jonny Johnson the Leaf fan in Mississauga feels about him or if they think he's a "homer".
Yes I understand that and most announcers are homers to a certain extent but Edwards takes the cake. I couldn't believe this call during the Leafs Bruins playoff series. Repeat guys a twit.

He's the worst. I think the notion that no-one likes a homer is true. I certainly don't have any time for a homer, but others will have their own opinions. Yelling at Hamrlik to "Get Up"! - maybe Bruins fans love him, or at least defend him as one of their tribe - I understand that and might do the same (hope not but who knows). But at the end of the day - the clown is a total tool.

I just think there is irony in that this is a site that calls Marchand a rat and makes fun of his nose, calls Matthews 'nostrils', and generally trashes players along these lines but are also thinking someone playfully doing the same is abhorrent.

To me all that says is you think it's ok behind a keyboard but not saying it where people know who you are which is cowardly. And to top it off, after what was clearly playfully taunting him, he then compliments him and his success in his career.

Just people looking to feel superior to others is all this outrage is.
When has any broadcaster said any of those things about a player?

I find Edwards insanely obnoxious but calling him out for something like this says more about the people doing it. Way worse look on them in my eyes. Media trying to get someone fired for banter basically, what a world. Yes there's a line but this doesn't cross it, not even close.

If you don't like him just don't listen to him, that's what i do . Afaik Bruins fans like him and ownership thinks he's worth paying, that's their business.

If people are getting offended by this then what about Kessel? The media was also on the Kessel fat shame train as well..

I disagree. You don't have to put anything down. Just eat things in moderation.

He's the team broadcaster. It's not really his job to be impartial, he's calling Bruins hockey regionally. He's no worse than basically any of the homers calling games in Canada.
