There is a level of professionalism that these guys should be held to. IMO this wasn't even close to the worst thing he's said. The dude should have been gone after he started laughing about players on other teams getting injured on the ice. To paraphrase him on one of those occasions, in regards to this current controversy, this couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Jack Edwards is nauseating to listen to so when I watch Bruins games I tend to have the volume down really low.
There are ambassadors of the sport of hockey then there are guys like Jack Edwards.

Sure, he says a couple wild ones here and there, yes I know I'm in the majority of enjoying his PBP.
Half the league announcers sounds like grandpas talking and puts you to sleep.

Not a fan of Jack Edwards at all. He stinks. But I'm finding it very hard to work up any outrage over what he said about Maroon.

Do you have to slow down the video to keep up with his calls? Last time the Canes and Bruins played I was stuck listening to the Bruins feed and my God, Kotchetkov would make a save and Edwards would still be talking about how the shot should have went in meanwhile the Canes have the puck in the other zone peppering Ullmark and that fool is still very slowing talking about the last Bruins rush. Not sure how I stayed awake through that game.

I have heard people complain about Edwards before, he isn't Fred Cusick by any means. But let's get over the comments already. Whatever happened to the days when Patrick Roy said: "I can't hear Jeremy (Roenick) talk on the ice because I have my two Stanley Cup rings plugged in my ears!" Maroon has three by the way. This is the fattest and most obese time in the history of the world and people hate to hear it. Now, obviously Maroon isn't obese, or even overweight. I think it was just a joke and that's about it, Edwards went too long with it when it wasn't funny anymore, just irritating. But relax with the hyper over the top reaction people. It isn't healthy to be overweight.

Society needs to stop rewarding these clowns with attention. These types of personalities know they can achieve “success” by simply loudly saying inflammatory, controversial shit over and over. There’s obviously people doing this schtick worse, but it’s the same shit. Shit can this clown immediately.

DIsclaimer - I'm a Bruins fan who hates Edwards and his silly shtick. But I'll try to be impartial. He used to call a good PBP. He knew the names and background. His homerism is wayyyyy overblown, it really only shows up in scrums or fights. In reality, he's always complimenting the other team, and in the case of Crosby, or every Tampa player not named Maroon, he absolutely fawns over them.
Now the bad. He barely does PBP any more. Instead, he goes off on tangents about some slight to the hockey gods that nobody else cares about. He tells bizarre stories, like the aforementioned pinning down his sister, or the one about his teachers back in Jr. High that rambled on and went nowhere.
He's in love with obscure hockey terms nobody else uses - "penalty bench", "leg save". He uses far too many syllables trying to be erudite or cute; truculence, ten bell donnybrook, tumbling muffin. He uses redundant phrases; "tight radius turn", "protective netting". And he has a strange notion that hockey is played with kitchen utensils; "ladles it ahead", "spoons it forward", "can't put a fork in it".
He's also visibly slowing down, slurring his words, and finds it tough to string together sentences. And even with this hampering him, he still steps all over Brickley, and barely lets him talk. Oh and most of his shtick he writes beforehand and stores it in his app. It is obviously canned material. I guarantee he had that Maroon diatribe all planned out and was just looking for a place to shoehorn it in (if you can call 40 seconds of yammering nonsense "shoehorning").

I'm not sure Leaf commentators know half the guys on opposing teams....Called Connor Clifton, Kyle Clifton (Clifford) all game the other night.
I get Jacks an eccentric guy, but I'm a Bruins fan and enjoy it. Like I said, some of the stuff he says is whacky, not going to deny that.
I see all the skinny, never-been-hated folks came out to comment how sad they think it is to get upset by this. Blame it on cancel culture or something
Why is it always the most privileged in society that feel the need to dispel the shortcomings and tribulations others have to go through?
Whats hilarious is 90% of these posters would fold like a cheap suit if offended by something that actually bothers them. But since it doesnt involve them, ' its just a millionaire being called fat guys whats the big deal '
id ask those who think this is nothing what offends them and how much they make but... nobody cares about them. but MAN do they care about others being offended or not and love dictating that for them
