I just think there is irony in that this is a site that calls Marchand a rat and makes fun of his nose, calls Matthews 'nostrils', and generally trashes players along these lines but are also thinking someone playfully doing the same is abhorrent.
To me all that says is you think it's ok behind a keyboard but not saying it where people know who you are which is cowardly. And to top it off, after what was clearly playfully taunting him, he then compliments him and his success in his career.
Just people looking to feel superior to others is all this outrage is.
I was wondering if this was the same guy. It was.
Yep that is over now, anyone who dares to go there is fatshaming and a trash human being. Seravalli's feelings must be protected. So I’m guessing no more Phil Kessel hot dog jokes then right?
Get your facts straight. You were probably labelled a conspiracy theorist because you sound like one.
<insert sexy luring image>Which context gets me that sweet, sweet ad revenue?
If a certain Leah Hextall said it she'd have 100 pages by now ezPeople hate Jack Edwards and have for years. If another announcer said this you wouldn't have a 20 page thread about it.

Well it's kind of normal when someone "is at it again", don't you think?People hate Jack Edwards and have for years. If another announcer said this you wouldn't have a 20 page thread about it.
To be fair, all the people behind a keyboard are just that, behind a keyboard. They're not in a professional position representing an entire organization and a TV station. I'd expect we can joke all we want within our friend's circle and be offensive as we want, but that usually changes when we arrive at work in front of our managers, supervisors, or customers.I just think there is irony in that this is a site that calls Marchand a rat and makes fun of his nose, calls Matthews 'nostrils', and generally trashes players along these lines but are also thinking someone playfully doing the same is abhorrent.

Here is some rich irony.I'm more concerned about him driving home after the game is over. Hope he's getting a lift to and from the arena.
It's more astonishment than anger. It's like if you were in an unfamiliar neighborhood and saw a pig driving a car. The pig is grinding gears, reeling between lanes and taking out fenders, and everyone in the neighborhood just watches him and goes about their day. When you ask them why the pig is allowed to drive the car or why no one objects they just say they like the pig, and it means well, and they're used to seeing the pig drive and they think it's entertaining. You wouldn't necessarily be angry -- after all, it's not your neighborhood and you don't have to deal with the pig except on rare occasions when you happen to see him -- but it would definitely stick with you and you'd mention it to anyone who would listen. It's a shame for Jack Edwards that he's not a troll or an guy who likes to get people upset.
He's a geek, we Bruins fans worry about his speech irregularities this year and hope his health is ok, he's a hockey and Bruins fanatic, and yes he sometimes goes WAY over the top. Love him or not though, he is not a nasty guy who wants to get people riled up. Quite the contrary.
Still, he has got a LOT of you really upset and, seemingly, generally miserable.
Why some of you come across so angry about a guy you (unless you are a local Bruins fan) probably listen to just a few times a year. Life is short -- getting so worked up about a television announcer is bad for your health -- and probably an indication that you get worked up hard about a shit load of other things in life as well. Some of your hearts are going to explode -- you're pumping blood to fast and too hard.

I don't see what is so hard to understand that what he said shouldn't have been said in the context of his job. To me it wasn't even that bad and I feel he has said dumber things, but it brought absolutely nothing interesting or beneficial to the broadcast. It was kind of weird as well. I was also surprised Brick went along with it. Usually, he just quiets down when Edwards gets on his rants or starts spouting stupid. It's not surprising though as Edwards has been getting away with all kinds of dumb things without recourse during his tenure.
You like apples?Absolutely hilarious coming from a fan of a Florida team. Needed that laugh this morning.
If you're a commentator, commentate on the game. Otherwise get rid of the concept altogether.I don't understand why so many people calling Edwards out for being an idiot are being met with the 'wow if this offended you you're soft blah blah'.
I don't think anyone is really 'offended' by this, it's just shit commentating work and unnecessary comments. Just another item in the long list of bone-headed drivel from this moron's mouth.
People hate Jack Edwards and have for years.
Please don't encourage that stuff? Camps? SMDH...and the hypocrisy of freedom of speech yet complaining about others speech is hilarious and probably lost on them(because they are worried about "camps").Just to play devil's advocate, if you think it's freedom of speech to be able to call him fat, isn't it freedom of speech to call Edwards unprofessional? It should go both ways. You're so concerned with 'thought and expression' being questioned, but you're here questioning people that disagree with you.
And lol at the whole 'camps' thing.
I mean, I'm not offended by it, or overly bothered by what he said and I'm an overweight fat***. But, again, he is in a professional setting and even if I deem it to be a fairly innocuous comment it shouldn't be said and it brought absolutely nothing to the broadcast. I'm not exactly sure how saying things like that would be deemed a personality, and likewise, not saying something like that as a PR mouthpiece.Ok but on the other hand we have people complaining the sport has no personality. So which is it? Do we want personality or do we want PR mouthpieces?
Yep. There's a reason there's a whole other guy whose job it is to sprinkle in extra tidbits. For baseball or football with long stops in between action I don't mind some banter, but it doesn't work so well with more continuous action in hockey. If you're a commentator, commentate on the game. Otherwise get rid of the concept altogether.
Huh? Backstreet Boys?!Jack Edwards is basically mid 90's Jerry "The King" Lawler.
I tell you what, I'm really glad you used "the" when you described this pig. If you were going to go down the road of generalizing that all pigs are shitty drivers grinding gears and such, I was going to call you out. Are pigs generally excellent drivers? Probably not (I think the hooves make for difficult grip on the steering wheel and, fair is fair, their legs are typically quite short). However, I know for a fact that Arnold on Green Acres was a highly accomplished driver. It's more astonishment than anger.
