That would certainly provide some clarity to this situation wouldn't it? It might show some leadership too.Matthews needs to ink his deal soon, this way if he does take a little less Nylander may as well.
Really hoping that the whole everything the Leafs put on Waivers being claimed was other GM's sending an FU Dubas thing, and it follows him to Pittsburgh. To be fair, every team will have guys pass through waivers, but not every team has guys picked off of waivers. And certainly not at the rate that happens to the Leafs
The Panthers seem to get a lot more guys picked off waivers than the Leafs do.Agreed ad that is what she is probably thinking but she should not say Leafs can't pass anybody through, which is a huge exaggeration.
I honestly just think that the Leafs had a lot of NHL quality players that they put on waivers.Really hoping that the whole everything the Leafs put on Waivers being claimed was other GM's sending an FU Dubas thing, and it follows him to Pittsburgh.
It was ridiculous, particularly every time we tried to put a goalie through.........
Thought it was reported yesterday that Tarasenko was signing in Carolina.
Dumba is the most surprising I’d say
How does any of this solve our goal scoring issues in the playoffs? The defense and goaltending were fine. What is Sammy’s trade value?
I would love to get a Dman for him.
Dump Murray
Grab Vladar, another D man and Lindholm for a Willy/Lily package.
Hasn't signed as of yet.
As far as Dumba, I'm not surprised at all. What does a 14 point, offensive D, who is weak defensively get? He's clearly not in agreement with what the market will pay him.

If we're going bare bones in cap space in net (which I am not opposed too), I would rather trade Sammy for assets and use the $3M to bring in another forward that can score (Toews/Tatar/etc.)
Why do we believe that Seattle's #5 D in TOI, will work with as a top pairing with Rielly?

Keefe's D system will be put to the testAfter signing players like Klingberg, Bertuzzi and Domi I think it's fair to question if our defense is still fine. At least we can't take that for granted.
Vancouver’s 6th D in TOI just succeeded in the same position, 1 year after Arizona’s #6 did the same. Why do we believe that Seattle's #5 D in TOI, will work with as a top pairing with Rielly?
"We" don't.Why do we believe that Seattle's #5 D in TOI, will work with as a top pairing with Rielly?
We need to buff up the defense.
Rielly excelled with a big, mean, physical, defensive defenseman as a partner. Should have went hard after Mayfield or someone else who can fit that role.
The Leafs starting D for the season is largely the same that was pretty damn good through the season. Klingberg replaces Holl and McCabe replaces Sandin on the depth chart, more or less.
Mayfield got a 7 year contract, so it's fair to say not many teams are as crazy as Lamoriello to not care for the next GM that has to deal with that.
I think the next move will likely be adding a Schenn replacement that can play some meaningful minutes. Who, how and when? I dunno.
I feel like Zadorov is a likely trade target.
Bunting (limited sample and all), Kerfoot, and even the likes of Kampf and McCabe didn't exactly have stellar track records comparatively in that department prior to becoming Leafs either IMO. This narrative is becoming incredibly and comically overblown. After signing players like Klingberg, Bertuzzi and Domi I think it's fair to question if our defense is still fine. At least we can't take that for granted.
In spite of any other shortcomings they have had, Keefe's Leaf teams have typically been solid defensively IMO.Keefe's D system will be put to the test
