the tweet just said that term and money wasn't the issue for ROR he just decided to not sign in Toronto. His comments after the playoff exit were pretty telling to begin with.

I think ideally you want someone in the top 6 that that provides that.

The link at the end- Forgotten man Kyle Clifford coming off a very effective AHL season already under contract for ~600k less than Reaves.

Reaves + League min player (775) = 2.125
2.125 - Clifford (.7625) = 1.36

I mean, getting the Tyson Barrie equivalent of a forward will get you some offense but I guarantee you’ll hate him for other reasons.

I can forgive a lot if the guy can pot 30 goals. Hell Pittsburgh won back to back Cups with Kessel still not playing defence and he went off in the playoffs. Leafs as they’re built should be able to insulate one guy who’s weak defensively, especially with the offensive potential he’s got.

it got us good value bets in free agency, the topic at hand. We'll see if we can get the same quality of cheap free agents like Bunting, Samsonov, Kase, etc. under a different guy. Players like that had plenty of options and selling them on the franchise is important

This is old man mentality. Studies show good boss/employee relationship always improves production.

I really think him being in the second tier of scorers could go a long way to keeping him in check.
