Chances the Jets go completely off the board here….I mean what’s the harm. What about one of the Euro coaches that are out there?

Everything seems so very hush hush and the “insiders” have no clue.

At this point a player coach Blake Wheeler wouldn’t even surprise me.

I think that is nonsense. This is an NHL Head Coaching job we are talking about.
Trotz didn't turn down Winnipeg. He decided to sit out the year on full salary from NYI. He tirned down several offers.
Other than that unusual set of circumstances, nobody turns down an NHL HC job to be an assistant coach.

This goes beyond grinding things out. It appears more like an organizational inability to make a decision.
I think it's more likely that Trotz told them he wanted to take a year off and they convinced him to talk more about it.

The fact that he turned down 7MM from Philly and all the other teams in the hunt picked other options says to me the writing was on the wall.

The org maybe thought the family connection was enough to maybe sway him.

If true that was the exact same mistake they made with byfuglien...

Apart from Monty and maybe Blashill I have no interest in anyone on that list, that being said the Jets will probably hire Tocchet. As for Trotz he had his reasons for not wanting to come here now and in all probability ever, is this search continues after the draft the Jets and this is speculation on my part put all their eggs in the Trotz basket and are now scrambling to find the "right" coach for this team. Anyways just thought I would pop by and now am going back to my self imposed exile from here until a new coach is hired.

According the Weibe, Tocchet is the frontrunner:

I give this hiring 5 Nietzsches out of 5:

Well Blashill actually has a real good resume outside his rebuilding time with Detroit. Maybe we shouldn't be quick to discount him.

Reading the opinions on how he worked young players into Detroit's lineup I'll probably continue holding reservations about the short term future of the Jets.

Remember how I would ask you guys repeatedly, “Who do you realistically think you could get that would be an improvement over Maurice?”

Well, the “answer“ might be Tocchet. LMAO!

What a clown show.
Provided the Jets can convince him to give up his TV gig yikes
Mr. Arniel you are it…..

"right now it's tough to sort of get a feel for maybe if there's a front runner or not, if I had to put the crystal ball I would have to say that rick tocchet is probably the number 1 choice for the winnipeg jets" "I still think the jets are defiantly still in deliberations, I don't think they have made their final decision, but right now I will probably say that rick tocchet is the probable front runner, again I'm not trying to couch it but that's the best I can do with the information I have right now"

so it should be according to wiebe tocchet could be the front runner

If The Jet's had fired Maurice when they should have, they might have been a more appealing landing spot for a good coach. Now, after Maurice fired himself and the whole org appears to be a huge tire-fire? Yeah...clown show.

Ah so he wasn't good at it I take it. He shouldn't at all be in the mix here then.

Sounds a lot like Maurice where if you didn't fit his vision of what a top 6 fwd/top4 defenceman is then you were penciled in as a bottom 6/bottom pairing player and expected to fill a role.

I though you guys wanted an "up and coming" coach, not veteran "retreads".

Who are these "up and coming" coaches and how come the Jets aren't securing one of them? It made the whole anti-Maurice coaching threads a big joke.
