I think zero chance of that - less than zero. I don't know exactly what NHL assistants make, but I'm sure it is no where near what a HC makes. Would you turn down $3 mil per for $200k because the 3 mil was in Winnipeg?

I mean...c'mon...is it really necessary to put a sarcasm smiley or a laugh smiley on everything? Obviously, that wasn't really a serious comment. I'm just fully embracing the pessimism at the moment

Not saying that but most of you thought it was a no-brainer to fire Maurice and hire some super duper "up and coming" young hockey mind. I asked who that would be. You guys said, "well, hard to say until we see who is available".

OK, we got a spot open now. Who is the up and coming young hockey mind that you guys want? Seems posters are scrambling for Vincent/Arniel combo.

Good lord.

Point being, all that nonsense about hiring some "great young hockey mind" was just pure fantasyland garbage when it came right down to it.

Well, most of us wanted Trotz. Then Montgomery or maybe Brunette. 2 or 3 years ago when Mo probably should have been canned? Who knows? Are you suggesting people on a hockey forum can't call for a coaching change without already having a replacement locked down for the organization? That's Chevy's job...and like I said it might have been easier then than it is now after Mo committed Hari-Kari because even he knew he was done. I don't see very many "scrambling" for a Vincent/Arniel combo...more like settling for them as the best remaining option - if that.

One thing about Tocchet is his teams play a hard hitting style.

With PLD probably being traded how many players on the entire team can actually hit ?

Lowry , pionk am I missing one or two?

We play a shy , get pushed around and don’t stick up for ourselves style.

Will our team be able to hit hard and take even more hits in retaliation?

We have gone from being all in on a franchise altering hire Trotz to rationalizing how "Tocchet might not be so bad afterall" lmao. Sad!

It reminds me of John Mulaney's bit about psalms/songs

"Oh you're getting a new coach?"

"Yeah...that's what I said...getting a new couch...he's a real couch"

lol

What about James Patrick head coach of the Winnipeg Ice.Finished with 107 points finished 1st in WHL.
He is the one who called out the players in the Jets Locker Room

I’m hearing that Rick Tocchet, Scott Arniel and Jim Montgomery are among the coaches on Winnipeg’s ever-shortening shortlist for its head coaching job.

Hiring a players dad to be a coach was as bush league A3 peewee hockey there is. And proves a connection to a player or organization is basically all it takes to get hired.

That should of been a no go no matter how good of a coach Dave was.

Chipman and Chevy just be embarrassed. There is no way they don’t feel what a lot of us and the city is feeling.

I love my jets but 10 years of this crap is enough

Who else should have been promoted on such short notice? Huddy? Kompon was dealing with family matters all year so it wasn’t gonna be him.

My preference on who's left

1. Montgomery (to actually be good)
2. Tocchet (to be a potential fall guy and try to get Trotz later)
3. Vincent
4. Blashill
5. Arneil

I thought for sure that David Quinn was the next Bruins coach but maybe he's a bad interview :dunno:
I remember there was talk that the Bruins were close to firing Claude Julien (I think) to hire Quinn at one point when he was still coaching at BU.

Quinn was always full of praise for Paul Maurice any time the Jets played the Rangers.

What a mess, Montgomery almost locked in to Boston now. This is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. Jets guaranteed now to end up with someone not optimal. Seriously, with whoever we get at this point this team needs to rebuild.

This is only fitting for this clown franchise though.
