Going to Boston 'cause Chevy can't decide??

I don't know coaches or coaching well enough to have strong opinions until after I see the results. I liked the prospect of Trotz because of his record and no nonsense reputation. I liked the sound of Cassidy for similar reasons.

Montgomery, I am not so sure of. His 7 principals, or whatever he called them sound half good and half bad to me.

Everybody is against Arniel because of 1 poor result 10 years ago. It doesn't look good, but he might have learned a thing or two from that experience and the 10 years since. So IDK, maybe.

Vincent is hard to judge. With the Moose, he was required by corporate policy to use Maurice's systems. What he might do on his own is a blank piece of paper. He doesn't come across as enough of a hardass to deal with the Jets fractious roster.

There must be some assistants or AHL coaches with better resumes than those 2.

But FCS, get on with it.

I mean, if we're looking at wanting to rebuild for a short time and get some decent draft picks next year, Tocchet is probably our guy. Dude is a career .475 win% (178-200-60) taking his teams to the playoffs 1/6 years. The season they made the playoffs ('19-'20) they beat Nashville in the play-in round and then got stomped by Colorado.

I believe that people can learn and change... but I don't have much faith that Tocchet will do anything except keep us in the bottom half of the standings. I'll have to read more about how he has helped developed young players in the past, but looking at the 'Yotes roster doesn't give me a ton of hope.

let’s face it. It’s going to be Arniel/Vincent combo.
Its way too early to draw conclusions but I’m getting some 2011 vibes here. Like no plan to fix it and we’ll just draft our way out of this with 7 picks a year.
Past is prologue especially with TSNE.

If that is indeed the 'plan', then it would be financially irresponsible to not trade some contracts, never mind the extra picks they would return.

I though you guys wanted an "up and coming" coach, not veteran "retreads".

Who are these "up and coming" coaches and how come the Jets aren't securing one of them? It made the whole anti-Maurice coaching threads a big joke.

So you're saying Maurice should still be our coach? Maybe another 3 or 4 years and he'd have gotten us our cup?

I'm less invested ATM in the potential coach as I am the plan for the next few seasons.

If they trade Wheeler and say PLD, and don't move some salary from D to help up front, I'm not sure if any coach is really going to make the difference between taking the roster from the bubble to legit.

Conversely, if the plan is to trade more than 2 or maybe all 4 of 80/26/55/37, then the coach doesn't need to be one that can take the team to the cup, but rather one that execute the plan of integrating the youth in the best way possible.

If Tocchet is the front runner, I have to believe every one else we asked said No

I also have to believe the goal is to get a high first round pick next year and hope Trotz has a change of heart or something

Or perhaps our AHL staff gets a promotion and Tocchet is interviewing for the AHL job?

Even though Spinorama is citing Wiebe, hopefully they are as wrong about this news as they were about Trotz being “confirmed for a tuesday” over a month ago

wiebe was just speculating, it's why it's better to actually listen to what wiebe said then just read a tweet and it's why I posted the quote's

Apparently they're somewhat misattributing what Ken Wiebe said. It sounds more like Wiebe was taking a shot in the dark and Spinorama is framing it as an informed opinion from an insider.

One thing about Tocchet is his teams play a hard hitting style.

With PLD probably being traded how many players on the entire team can actually hit ?

Lowry , pionk am I missing one or two?

We play a shy , get pushed around and don’t stick up for ourselves style.

Will our team be able to hit hard and take even more hits in retaliation?

I think this is "strategic leaking" from True North. It's actually a very clever (not stupid, such a fine line) approach to the actual naming of the coach. A little "ooh, Tocchet is the front runner", a bit of "ooh, Blashill has a real shot at it" and when they actually come out and tell us it's Vincent or Arniel, nobody is going "uh-huh, friends and family again". No, they're all saying, "Oh, thank f***ing God"!

Not saying that but most of you thought it was a no-brainer to fire Maurice and hire some super duper "up and coming" young hockey mind. I asked who that would be. You guys said, "well, hard to say until we see who is available".

OK, we got a spot open now. Who is the up and coming young hockey mind that you guys want? Seems posters are scrambling for Vincent/Arniel combo.

Good lord.

Point being, all that nonsense about hiring some "great young hockey mind" was just pure fantasyland garbage when it came right down to it.

yeah...blah. That's pretty much where I'm at. As it stands right now, I suspect Brunette would take the pity position with Florida rather than come here.

I think zero chance of that - less than zero. I don't know exactly what NHL assistants make, but I'm sure it is no where near what a HC makes. Would you turn down $3 mil per for $200k because the 3 mil was in Winnipeg?

Certainly we felt Zinger has familiarity with our guys and he sharpens a mean skate….. besides everyone else was busy and didn’t return our calls :sarcasm:

We have not been a good hitting team since Big Buff left!

How come we are not hearing about any coaching interviews going on.When it was Trotz we new when he took a dump so what's going on ?
