Don't even need to worry about the salary. Knox, this year's first, and Lance Thomas get us pretty close. Add in DSJ (I think they keep Frank due to his defense and not needing to be the primary ball handler w/ Kyrie coming) and they are just about there. That would be the baseline for any deal. All the other players added in would be to increase the trade's value.

I'm pretty much sold on them getting one of Kyrie/Kemba. We don't need a primary ball handler outside of a backup that they can find. Also Trier could fill that role to some degree. If they are getting a big 3 like that, there will be a veteran that is willing to sign to be a backup PG.

I'd definitely keep Ntilikina over DSJ. I've been saying all along, Frank would fit better on a championship team. Play defense and just pass the ball.

Let's hope NO likes DSJ more.

Doesn't matter. Knicks for once are in the drivers seat.
You also have to match salary. So the Knicks giving all their roster players that the salary succeed's Davis cause NO wants that, isn't going to work.

Sorry, but I don't have that kind of attitude that the Knicks will do something crazy cause they did in the past.
Scott Perry hasn't shown that.

Michael Kay had a cap expert on his radio show yesterday and it was explained that if the Knicks want AD on top of two max players, it would technically be possible but the deal could only be done in August and they would have to send a lot over. It was the expert's opinion that if he had the chance to do that he would definitely pull the trigger because three bigs is the winning formula in the NBA even if you deplete the bench and role players

If this roster has Durant/Davis/Robinson/Jordan, that is possibly the best rim protecting team ever put together. There are offensive flaws with that unit, but a 3/4/5 of KD/AD/(Robinson/Jordan) would be nightmare fuel for opposing guards driving to the basket.

I heard. It was Bobby Marks. Even he said they would keep Robinson.
Robinson's salary is only 1 million. So there is no need to trade him.
2019 first, Knox, DSJ, Jenkins, Ellenson, Gerrett is enough salary to trade for Davis.
Two things this comes down to:
1. Getting a top 3 pick for salary purposes. The more the draft pick makes, the less the Knicks have to trade.
2. Who are the teams the Knicks are competing with for a Davis trade? Davis has a short list. Bucks no shot. Celtics not likely cause he won't re-sign there and Irving is leaving so why would Ainge trade Tatum++?
As of now, it just looks like the Lakers are the biggest threat.
Which is odd, cause why would 26 y/o AD want to play with soon to be 35 Lebron who is showing signs of slowing down, in a not so easy West?
Plus the Lakers are very dysfunctional right now.

Kay didn't know that the Knicks could trade for Anthony Davis after the two maxes are signed.
He read some false information about the Knicks could only get two of Davis, Durant, Irving.

Why are we adding in all those filler contracts? They can add Lance Thomas and be done with it. That's the salary right there. He is signed for another year. While those players may have more value in terms of potential, are the Pelicans going to argue that if those guys aren't in it and Lance Thomas is that they would object? Those are guys who are fringe NBA players. Can be found like the Knicks got them, for nothing. I can understand moving out there deals on our end, but salary will not be an issue. Thomas+DSJ/Frank+Knox gets you there. Everything else is unnecessary.

DeAndre Jordan is a UFA? How is he figuring into this?

This thread just got absolutely crazy. Are people drinking already in preparation for tonight?

people speculating he may take vets minimum to join a loaded squad - that's the only way he's back on the team

And yes, I am amped for tonight, going to the draft party at MSG with alan hahn

Contracts need to add up to 22 mill. Thomas only makes 1 million.

If I get the #1, I keep zion
I hate Kyrie and want nothing to do with him
I'd trade anything else for AD though (not Zion)

I seem to be in the real minority here.

not sure if busting on the draft getting #5 is bad or good to get KD to sign. Does he see that as a fail making it harder for him to get to the finals with the Knicks or does it make him more likely to sign to lift up the team that will be reeling from burning a whole season and getting an ordinary player for all that trouble
