Apparently that’s one of the few avenues they have if they want to acquire him this year?

Something about the type of contracts Kyrie and Davis currently have prohibit them from being on the same payroll? Some NBA CBA talk above and just thinking about it has me sweating rofl

yeah I dont know all the ins and outs but I read they cannot have Davis on the roster this year. So if New Orleans wants to trade him this season before FA, they'd have no choice I guess.

Correct. Both are signed to "Designated Player" extensions* and a team is only allowed to have 2 of those contracts on its books if 1 of them is their own draftee, so you can only add 1 player with a contract like that via trade.

That said, if Boston tells the pels that they'll put Tatum on the table if they just wait until Kyrie opts out this summer, then I suspect we'll see AD staying put for the rest of the season.

*often referred to as the super-Max, although that term is sometimes used for guys with 10+ years of experience, who are eligible to sign a 35% max rather than the 30% max that guys like Kawhi / Kyrie / Klay / Kemba are eligible for.
That would only be the case if Davis only wants LA. Thus far, reports say he would be interested in the Knicks.

It also doesn't help the Lakers that I suspect the Bulls are deluded enough to trade for AD even if he tells them he's not interested...sorta like a much more poorly thought out Kawhi-to-Toronto trade.

Knicks last in NBA.

No Knick youngster made the young stars challenge.

Steve Mills ladies and gentlemen.

I'm not trading every asset for Anthony Davis.

Here are my three scenarios.

1.
NOP: Porzingis/Knox/Trier/Kantor
NYK: Davis

Robinson
Davis
Durant
Culver
(Davis will win some games but I don't think the Knicks slip that far that someone like Culver won't be be there where they likely pick, 5th/6th)
Irving

2.
NOP: 2019 unprotected 1st/Knox/Robinson/Kantor
NYK: Davis

Porzingis
Davis
Durant
Dotson
Ntlikina

3.
Forget Davis. Keep assets and see if Durant comes. If so, trade Hardaway and Lee attaching a couple of those assets. This opens up a second max.

Porzingis
Durant
Knox
Culver
Irving

I don't watch Mav games but I'm guessing DSj doesn't look like that often. Cause if he did they wouldn't be looking to trade him.

No he doesn't.

They also have the fundamental problem that he wants the ball going through him, and now Doncic is there and plays that role. (100 times better).

They're probably best off trading him while he still has that young guy buzz.

I mean, the kid still put up 5 turnovers & needed 12 shots to score his 13 points...so it's not like he was the bastion of efficiency even with Burke defending him...

Dude watches 3 years of IsoMelo and his 35 year old friends, and now he’s concerned?

Starting to think @Cassano is KP

(Trade him to NO for AD....)

I mean there really isn't much hope for the team unless you're banking on Zion lottery and KD signing. There are over a dozen teams with better younger pieces than the Knicks along with a better front office (which has Oiler level incompetence). Would trade our franchise for Masai from Toronto.

The players are young, just like the 2010-11 Leafs were young with garbage players.

They play mostly an ISOball system with chuckers like THJ, Zo, Mudiay and Burke. Zero entertainment or fluid ball movement.

Besides maybe the hawks and Cavs there isn't one team I wouldn't trade our roster for.

I don't disagree with a lot of the criticism, but this is the direction it needs to go. They're finally rebuilding and people are bitching and moaning, KP included. The only way to go in this league is cut cap space for a max contract, and suck to get high picks. You can turn it around quick if you're smart about it.

you're also spending subsequent posts raving about Dennis Smith and calling the whole Knicks roster garbage. Ain't much of a difference between DSJ, Mudiay and Trier, fella. Hate to break it to you.
