leafs fan, does muzzin have a good hard shot and how reliable defensively is he. thx.

Yes.
I was at Pepsi Center this game, New Years Eve and actually in row 20, (right above the game winning goal) in which Dustin Brown won it in OT...from a 100 foot pass from Muzzin. Head up the entire time and rifles and threads it through a diving AVs defender. Jake also makes outstanding plays on the PP, by being patient with the puck. His 21 points are on the worst offensive team and he would be getting
his typical 40 points if the Kings were scoring...his team best plus 10 is noteworthy, on a Kings last place minus 37 goal differential, so he's been stellar all year.

Muzzin and Brown talk about the play :::::::::::::

Surprised by the return, specifically with the timing.

If that was the best offer, why not wait a few weeks and let the desperation of the trade deadline potentially increase the return?

Can I know why people like Forbort so much? I don’t understand why coaches keep insisting on pairing him with DD. The guy is not a top pairing dman. Would love to see him never play another game for the Kings, straight up.

Most of the time, Doughty has played with a left handed defensive defenseman. Forbort is the only guy they have left like that. If the defense was deeper, maybe Muzzin keeps playing with Doughty all these years.

Phone call? I guess w social media, you have to make a phone call or risk him finding out via twitter... Seems like something that should be done in person though.

With the all-star break and bye week, it's likely Muzzin wasn't in town. They're all big boys getting paid millions. Can't imagine this was a surprise to him. He was probably counting down the days until it happened. It'll be alright.

And then what if he gets hurt? When you have a trade you like, do it. The Kings don't hold all the leverage in these equations. They're also desperate to get some kind of return on depreciating assets. Considering all the factors, the return on Muzzin may end up being the most they get for anyone on the roster that they can trade. Perfect world, they take it down to the last minute. 11 games is a lot of time to get hurt though, and had they waited and he gotten hurt, it's why didn't they trade him sooner. Maybe he gets a leg injury like Carter, and it takes him all year next year to get back his game, and they're selling really low.

It's tough enough to make trades in this hard cap league. If you wait, maybe a few other teams fall out of the race, a couple more defensemen become available, and now your supply has decreased in value.

Yeah, Muzzin is actually a four at best and was routinely a whipping boy. Man feck off.

So if you guys don’t win a Cup soon does that mean Matthews and Marner weren’t really 1st liners? It’s a good hockey trade, just leave our boards if you’re going to peddle revisionist history.

Cool story bro.

The Leafs are trending down and they’ll be playoff pretenders and out in the first round. Just being honest.

Never understood why the truth about prospects triggered people. Basically unless you lie and say something positive about the prospect you get shit on. Typical HF overrating prospects. Honesty is not welcome.

Didn’t Mayor also predict in December I think that Quick will be gone by February 26th? I would need to go back to Twitter feeds but I think it was quoted here too? Anyone?????

I'm gonna be a negative nancy and say we got hosed. A late first and a couple of b grade prospects seems light to me. Only positives are that it should signal a rebuild and we lose the ****ty amish beard. Is it the leafs that have to be clean shaved??? ruh roh

No the shaving rule was only with Lou Lamiorello

What was I complaining about? Muzzin? I actually have been pleased with him and only call him out when he makes tape to tape passes to the wrong team.

Hope he enjoys the scrutiny in Toronto. He actually was one of maybe three guys whose effort wasn’t in doubt this season.

Thankfully, the Muzzin-Martinez Minus pairing is no more.

Can't wait for the Doughty-Forbort pairing to be no more.

Players aren't their highlight clips. Muzzin ain't perfect, and neither are the prospects. A late 2nd round pick from 3 years ago, a guy that wasn't drafted when he was 18, and a likely bottom 25% of the 1st round pick, none of it has huge upside unless the Kings luck out. Muzzin isn't agile, and can look awkward at times. Upsides and downsides both ways.

Or maybe coming on a board and telling it’s fans you got crap for a guy who contributes nightly and has been on the team for ten years and two cup runs isn’t a good idea. Food for thought.

You'd rather be lied to? I'd personally prefer the truth over being fed inaccurate fluff just to feel better

Say if muzzin gets injured. It was a high package if you disect it. 2 second round pick prospects and a unconditional 1st round pick. I'd take that and run. Let's hope leafs now in a 5 game losing streak.

Grundstrom reminds me of a Thomas Holmstrom type player. Plays with passion which LA lacks.

Durzi is a mixed bag. Potential is there but needs to be developed the right way. Probably a few seasons in the AHL but he seems like a modern day puck rusher. LA must see something in him. Kings were never gonna get Sandin for Muzzin. I still think Liljegren is the most overrated prospect on HFBoards.

The first is the key. That also gives them an option to package it with a second and move up.

Good trade for both sides.

Grundstrom is going to be good, should be a 15-15 3rd liner at the least, and has top 6 potential. Not afraid of the dirty areas of the ice. I'd value him similarly to the 1st. Obviously Durzi's a decent add as well, he has some upside. Lots of value as you guys try to retool.

Leafs get a quality D, shifting Hainsey from the 1st pair to our 3rd. Huge improvement in one fell swoop, and we kept our two top prospects in Liljegren & Sandin without giving up anything from our roster.

Grundstrom is your prize and likely the best chance at an NHLer of the two prospects. Hes got a bit of scoring touch and some grit amd pest qualities, a Leo Komarov type guy.

Durzi was an overager last summer when he was drafted (hes 20 right now). I cant really speak to his potential as I havent had enough viewings. Was unspectacular at traing camp.

The 1st is up to your scouts! Good luck with the future

Kings fans will hate you for saying this but its true. Its what I've been saying as well as scouts.

L.A. is doing a great job. I've seen the Leafs trying to take all kinds of short-cuts for years. Finally with a list of Hockey Hall of Famers on the roster, what does the NHL do? Lock-out. That hurt.
Having constantly trying to win? No prospects! Salary cap? Means seasons of just trying to dismantle the team. Although their hand was forced, the true way of winning is doing a proper rebuild. It hurts, and for competitive people, it goes against intuition. But smart management knows when to rebuild. Some of these teams trying to push for a wildcard spot? That's a great stepping stone for a young team, but if they're not trending up, what waste of time! Fans of the L.A. Kings should be elated their management team has made this trade. I would say at least half the league is behind the Kings in being a serious contender for the Cup.
