"That 1st round pick we are sending to NJ will probably never be as good as Tom Kurvers, win for us"

I’m gonna guess the poster wasn’t even born when that deal was made. He’s gonna have to Lougle it.

I have a lot of respect for Muzzin with his career path, development and becoming one of the best #2 defensemen in the league. For me, he's one of those "King for life" guys. Good trade for both sides and awesome to be getting the rebuild going.
I do feel a little regret that he couldn't play 4 more games as a King and hit 500.

only thing that worries me is what the hell will Ziggy complain about now?

What was I complaining about? Muzzin? I actually have been pleased with him and only call him out when he makes tape to tape passes to the wrong team.

Hope he enjoys the scrutiny in Toronto. He actually was one of maybe three guys whose effort wasn’t in doubt this season.

Thankfully, the Muzzin-Martinez Minus pairing is no more.

Damn, I am late to the party. I turn my back and the bullshit begins.

Would have liked to see LA pry Kapanen out of Toronto, but that was a pretty solid return by Blake.

We need to get younger, end of story.

Yeah, that's crazy. No way Muzzin plays right side. He has been a lefty the entire time he was a King. Honestly, Toronto would have been better off trading for Martinez. He costs less, is equal or better than Muzzin in the regular season and playoffs, he plays the right side, and they could have gotten him for Gundy alone.

Many leaf fans peddled Bracco over Grundstrom. Lots of leaf fans not happy to lose Grundstrom either.

Course they are thrilled to keep Liljegren.

Durzi is trending up as an over aged player. He’s a wild card but he is another rhd to add to the prospect pool. The pick will make or break the total value of the return. Hoping LA mines some gold with it.
Came here to see what people were saying about Muzzin. I would have traded you Bracco before Grundstrom, and had him 3rd in our pool behind Lily and Sandin. He also fit a Leafs long-term need more than Bracco. Although, I've never been a huge fan of Bracco. Grundstrom is a north/south guy, who can score, play physical and win puck battles. He is highly unlikely to be anything more than a complimentary player, but he should be useful and is fairly safe for a B prospect. Bracco has a higher ceiling but is very high risk. He's the type of player who in 3 years when he's playing in the NLA as a highly valued import it doesn't surprise you.

So Blake trades Muzzin to Toronto making them better. I hope Tampa or Montreal notices and responds with a trade for Martinez.

For everything else he's done, absolutely--but the icing on the cake was him busting his ass all year this year and facing the media nightly talking about emotion and heart. He was a true leader all year this year. While it's Doughty, Kopitar etc. that will have statues and jersey hangings, Muzzin was always that just-outside core, and we couldn't have crossed the finish line the 2nd time without him. Remember how lost we thought we'd be without Mitchell that year, then Muzzin suddenly stepped onto the top pairing forming the most formidable pair in the league?

Leafs fan in peace

I could see grundstrom being a good 20G/20A guy who brings lots of intangibles, someone like Dustin Brown. I think he will be the best part of this deal for you guys in a couple years. I actually was looking forward to seeing him play with Kadri but hey

How much of an impact could we expect muzzin to make?

Depends on you... Is he playing on his normal left side or are you guys going to putt from the rough and play him on the right side?

Thanks for reporting on Grundstrom. The Kings have not acquired a talented young player about to break in the NHL in years. Seen all kinds of projections for Carl, but he seems to have the grit and determination to reach his ceiling and perhaps surpass the "grinder that may pop a few goals" projection some say. Second in goals with 17 in only 35 games in Frolunda at the age of 20 is pretty noteworthy....then followed by 8 goals and 14 points in helping the Marlies win the Calder.

Read the post above yours, regarding Muzzin. Spot on, about his professionalism and drive this season. Blake even mentioned that Muzzin was an emerging leader the last few years.
His game has been pretty stellar and consistent all year. He is focused and plays hard. Lots of huge hits the last 2 months, as the Kings are not as big, tough to play against as with the
Cup teams and Jake has played pretty physical. He was mic'd up a few weeks ago and was always vocal in pumping teammates up and a few times on the bench was asking a player
"what happened there?" Kind of wanting to hear what a teammate would say about a play - not sounding like he was being an azz, but also was pumping up players to push through
and excel. I think he expects a lot from himself.

Blake on a call had these words.
“Terrific player, terrific person, took a huge step in leadership over the last few years here,” Blake said of Muzzin. “Very difficult day here for us. To move players that have brought so much to this organization and bringing a Stanley Cup the organization, very difficult. We wish Jake well. He was tremendous for his time here as an LA King.”
Blake speaks for a lot of people when praising Muzzin. While building for the “future” was certainly a theme on his conference call, emotionally this is a raw moment for an organization that could soon part ways with a number of emotional leaders and productive figures who played key roles during the team’s glory years. With Muzzin’s departure, 10 players remain from the club’s 2014 Stanley Cup team.
“It was a difficult conversation with him,” Blake said. “I have a ton of respect for him, what he’s been able to do through difficult circumstances this year. So it was a very difficult phone call.

I have watched several Leafs games on NHL Centre Ice and will be watching Friday. You can expect Jake to step in and step up his game. He'll be pumped.
The 2014 Cup, he had 6 goals and 6 assists and was awesome. The 2012 Cup, he was just coming up from the minors and was with the Team, but not playing.
He got to play with the best - Doughty and learn from great vets like Willie Mitchell, Matt Greene and Rob Scuderi...and Robyn Regher too.
He was probably the Kings MVP this year....and I know he got in a few games with Team Canada in 2016 in Toronto. I think it was then, he knew
he was among the better defensemen in the league.

Kings need to retool / rebuild and this is a start. The #1 will be huge and know that Grundstrom sounds like a level above some of the Kings younger players they
have been bringing on of late. Hope Durzi becomes a player as well.

Man, I'm actually going to miss Muzzin.

The only one who could hit and score. And skate well enough.

...
Phone call? I guess w social media, you have to make a phone call or risk him finding out via twitter... Seems like something that should be done in person though.
