Muzzin taketh, and he giveth away. Kings lose to FLA 3-2

Enough of these excuses though. "Back to back sub par seasons." He's still a top 10 center in the league and teams would be lining up for him. Nashville would give a ransom for him.

Sure Kopitar would have plenty of suitors, that doesn't mean the Kings should add another bad contract to the roster.

If Kopitar wants term and top dollar, he needs to be the driving force of the Kings nightly, not when he feels like it, or when the Kings are in a Hole in the standings.

The November/December efforts need to STOP, if he is going to be a Ten million dollar player.

Efforts like his start to this season, and his road efforts this season need to never creep into his game EVERY AGAIN.

You don't get to make Top dollar on the team with an Eight year contract, then DECIDE when you want to play well.

Toews doesn't do that garbage, Kane doesn't. Crosby doesn't ,Stankos Doesn't.

I know players slump..That happens. But is anyone happy with Kopitar's effort on the road this year. His effort has been nonexistent, and it's causing losses.

It is always darkest before the down.
You can't pick yourself up until you get knocked down.
Steel needs to be melted before you can forge a sword

The way our D has been this year, they need swords instead of sticks to keep the puck out of the net. Are we allowed to do that?

This is the first time I've ever disagreed with you. I'm a little upset by this post.

Think about it though. I love Kopitar, but would you give him 9 million a year? Over 8 years? I'd certainly think long and hard about it. You take a generational player like Connor McDavid and add him as our second line center. Wow.

I'm not a prospect hyper, but this kid is the next Sydney Crosby.

I'd drop Kopi for #1 if Kopi is asking too much. This cap sucks and we're overspent. If we can develop McHockey appropriately, I say go for it.

This.

Sorry folks, He's a very good hard working 2-way player. Fairly dedicated guy, works pretty hard off the ice, likes the fans, etc, but he's just not an elite player I don't care what Lombardi would argue. He's the most historically inconsistent offensive performer at forward in the league making the kinda money he makes and frankly I wouldn't give him a lot more than he's making now to stay.

And if his demands are exorbitant, hell yes you trade him. Asset Management. Lombardi got burned to a crisp this season on loyalty. He showed it to the wrong guy and he's paying severely for it. Again, I don't care how he justifies the non-buyout on Richards. The Los Angeles Kings will be around for decades after Richards' career is over and he'll be a footnote in it. The Edmonton Oilers replaced Wayne Gretzky, winning a cup without him..The L.A. Kings would replace Kopitar if they had to. The Cap changes how you make these decisions.

Kopi has seen a couple jerseys go up in the rafters since he came to this franchise. It's going to be up to him as to whether he wants to see his go up as well. I wouldn't go a penny over an $8M cap hit for Kopi. Just my opinion.

The reason I say this is because that may be a feasible trade for a team like Edmonton. They've drafted first overall for years now. Adding Kopitar instantly solidifies their top six, he's a proven winner, and accelerates their rebuild.

The question is, with only a year remaining on his contract does Edmonton risk it.

This. All of this. If Kopitar thinks he's getting anywhere close to Toews, Crosby or Stamkos money, he's dreaming, especially after the **** show of the 2014-15 season.

Who is going to trade the next Crosby for a decade old car with a couple hundred thousand miles on it? Oiler management wouldn't even do that.

"General, our shot at McDavid went high and wide."

Well, we gave Stoll the controls, that was stupid.

Sutter on McBain tonight.

Sutter: "He did exactly what I asked him to do – move pucks, and get pucks to the net"

:handclap: Kid may have salvaged his career with this season, good for him. Very intelligent and crafty with the puck, continually working hard at being better without. Good model of what to do when the league quits on you. Very happy for him. And man was I hard on him earlier this season

And I worry that it's shortening his career, putting him out for this many minutes a game in what seems to be a vain cause... or have I just given in to doomsaying?

I don't think it's doomsaying but he makes some mistakes every other game that are clearly a result of too many minutes and you can tell frequently he's conserving energy which means he's victim to getting outworked. It also jacks up Muzzin's minutes to an unmanagable threshold so god bless them both for trying but that's actually hurting us too...but damned if you do damned if you don't. I don't think it's gonna hurt his career though, he looks skinnier now, if only we could force him to do this all offseason :)

Missing the playoffs early will be a good thing in that it will give DL the air cover to sell off aging pieces that deep down he knows need to go.

Yes. I still back DL's moves last offseason 100% because I can't imagine doing different in hindsight...I buy the philosophy that the team that won it gets a shot to do it again, you owe them and they owe each other that much. His challenge will be to go back to 2010 business mode, and we should see some separation.

Hasn't been on NHL ice yet, though. Can you imagine if we had MacKinnon as our centerpiece right now? We'd be having the exact same arguments as we are about Kopitar. I don't think it's worth the gamble because you have no clue what the team looks like 3 years from now. And Kopitar will still be a very useful player as he slows down, he may just need to eventually ease down to 2C like Thornton...but that's still a ways off.

I mean the guy has played the equivalent of an extra season and traveled the globe while being the focus of several teams and absorbing contact left and right. He's gassed. Plain and simple, you can see it as he loses board battles...that's not a lack of skill or him being out of his prime, that's a dude that's out of shape (not from lack of effort, but exhausted).

It's this really a deeper home than being down 3-0 in a playoff?

I'll agree and admit this Kings look lost and hopeless but until they are mathematically eliminated I just can't write them off.

I just looked it up, and Kopitar has 8 road points in 20 games. Carter has 7 in 23. Not good.

Since we are amongst friend here Snoop, what do you REALLY think about your boy choosing UCLA?

P.s. Your OG kush is the Shizzle fo nizzle

Even when we were down 3-0 I went to game 4 and enjoyed it, and I knew the team had character to pull off the sweep.

Especially when the Sharks melted down at the end of game 4, I knew they could be had.

This team is ****ed up in so many ways. That Muzzin pass defined the season, right there. As soon as I he passed the puck without looking I knew it was going into the net. Why? Because every game it's something like that. Every ****ing game...we have no cushion. We seemingly never have the lead and when we do it's one goal and prone to be tied up with a stupid mistake, and it seems all the defensemen are in on it with the exception of RR (now that I wrote that watch him Muzzin-it-up against Tampa).

I have completely lost confidence in this team to do anything. 51 games in and they haven't looked good except against the Sharks on December 27.

That's been it.

Just finished the DVR. Oy.

Florida is a nice young team. Bjugstad is everything my fantasy club says he is... Kopitar with a better first step. Once he grows up, look out.

As for the Kings. Bad team, man. Bad ****ing team.
