Muzzin taketh, and he giveth away. Kings lose to FLA 3-2

Seems to me that every team is collectively beating us in what would be a playoff game during the season...and it's pushing us out of the playoffs. Problem is, LA is making bonehead mistakes and helping them out....

These are mistakes we saw before before Terrry Murray got here. There's no excuse for them to fall back to this kind of play. They are all seasoned players, not a bunch of young kids learning the game.

Herb Brooks said "The name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the name on the back"

Well in this case I take a bit of a different approach. I think a lot of the more optimistic people on this board were a little guilty of looking strictly at the Kings logo and thinking they would just flip a switch or turn it on, the reality is the names on the back are a lot different than in years past. Mitchell is gone, Richards was here in body but gone in spirit, Scuderi is gone, Voynov is gone. Those are some big shoes to fill and the Kings just didn't have the horses to fill them, whether from the bottom lines stepping up or kids from Manchester.

I think only now are people really seeing that this is a really flawed roster that isn't getting any younger and a GM that really has backed himself into a corner with some of his perplexing moves. Dean has won 2 Cups, he deserves a chance to fix this mess but boy he didn't do himself any favors with his cap situation. We are going to lose some good players and likely have no money to replace them. Unless the salary cap drastically goes up in the next few years the Kings are going to need Toffoli and Pearson like contributions from youngsters to win another cup.

Say Stoll walks. Well you don't like Stoll, so that's ok. Williams? Looking older. Regehr? They won the Cup without him, and nobody likes him on the 2nd pairing.

The Kings have lost 1 guy over the years that nobody wanted to see go when he left. However, if this entire team is exhausted, Mitchell isn't going to make a difference. If they didn't sign Greene, Voynov is in limbo, and Mitchell is still here, Doughty is still playing 30 minutes a night. Having Mitchell isn't going to make Kopitar score a goal, as he didn't score a goal in the last 2 rounds of the playoffs last year. Carter, Gaborik, and Williams did though, and only 1 of those guys is scoring this year.

Not really because they know they suck! We are/were a good team

Its nice to be able to at least appreciate the teams recent success. It sucks seeing the team trending down but at least we have hope of a quick refit if we fail this year.

I am just too salty tonight to even look up Kopitar/Carter's road stats...it really doesn't matter does it ?

This roster is toast.

My dreams of my clean dryer vent being the inspiration for the longest winning streak in Kings' history is now crushed

Should we call up the farm or let the kids go on their own run in Manch? Hopefully the kids would be the new winning nucleus as this current core is slowing down.

I m Sure Forbort or Weal will probably get a call up at some point . But there is no reason to bring anyone else up.

Just a hypothetical curiosity. Do you trade Kopitar at the draft if it lands you the #1 overall pick?

No, It crates a hole that can't be filled. You just don't give Kopitar Eight years on his contract.

Unless the Cap hit is like 7.0 million.

He has pretty much played his way out of Toews Contract this season. His agent will tell him DO NOT SIGN AN EXTENSION this coming off-season..

Richards went from not contributing to a losing team to Contributing nicely to a winning team, and still getting paid!

And if it comes down to that, and they don't do it, what do they do?

If kopitar asks for the Moon and term, while having sup par back to back seasons....What would you do ?

Would you sign a then 29 year old Kopitar to an Eight year deal worth 9 or 10 million ?

I wouldn't

More Stoll: “We got zero points tonight. I don’t give a crap how we lost. Yeah, it’s a tough loss. But we got zero points.”

He should give a crap...stupid mistakes and turnovers gets you 0 points.

No I wouldn't.

Yes. I would trade him for the #1 overall pick. The other team wouldn't though.

It's a tough choice, no question. The one hand, an older Kopitar with a big contract. The other hand...

Trade Kopitar? Who's going to take him? What would they give for him, with no contract, late 20's, with back to back sub par seasons?

Let him walk? Probably unlikely.

We know how long it took the Kings to find a Kopitar type center. Lucked into him falling in the draft at that. I would think the Kings are stuck with him, good or bad.
