Imagine today with fentanyl being laced into it.
Any chance the story was intertwined with the movie '' The French connection''
The movie french connection is also mentioned as inspirated of DeBreteuil. Faithfull was with him enough time to tell a lot. And as she said, she is a survivor of that jet set pusher. He was connected with Marocco embassy limousine driver. And marocco can deal with the turquish so there is drugs available. That was the drug back then in 1966-73, today it's chemical labs anywhere.

Le Chat Noir, mid to late 70's. Great bar with a jukebox blaring this and the dance floor rocking. Tables full of beer bottles and hash.

Ahh, the good old days

Never heard of the place, where was this? sounds like fun times. A bit before my time, sort of, although hit some spots when around 15 or so:shakehead

I didn't realize Kansas was still writing. I stopped following them since their hey day but here they are with a compelling power ballad.

Thought it was this song at first but kept listening and seems alright. Have a few vinyls from them and can say there was not much on them aside from a song or two,of course it has been a good 20-30 years?:dunno:

Sherbrooke, just east of Bleury. Aylmer, sorry. Just checked google maps, I don't recognize anything from back then. I haven't been downtown since who knows when.

There was some places. I was going out in adult bars such as Café Campus when I was 15. I had a kind of sudden liberation at the time. At 18yrs I had my mother's car and I was going out downtown in bars with my friends. I was the driver, a bit drunk and a bit stoned and we survived. With a car that today would be considered unable to ride. Had 4 seasons tires in winter. The best place was café campus downstairs for smoking hash and there was a tiny live stage for jazz trios. The Emery was another place and there was small jazz places in old montreal. There was a cool and small jazz bar just west of cegep vieux montreal on Ontario street. One of the weirdest granola café was Le Matin des magiciens on Henri-Julien between Rachel and Roy. Later in the 90's there was Le Passeport on St-Denis near Rachel, and also Le Cargo, Eugène Patin, Les Foufounes Électriques and a popular bar corner St-Laurent and Rachel. In the 80's there was a 3 floor bar corner Ave duParc and Mt-Royal. But it seems today it was 50 years ago. That was a good time.
A link to some of the places in the 70's. In french.

Back to 2011 when canadians looked so stupid. World wide we were the shame of all humans on earth. I was ashamed being a canadian. To ban the song Money for Nothing from Dire Straits.
Mark Knopfler is one of my all time favorite rock star hero. The lyrics were the story telling from a bigot character, if anyone can't understand second degree writing, he's plain stupid. Doing that offence to Knopfler, I'm still mad after 11 years.
Halifax radio station's 'Money for Nothing' marathon generates complaints
Dire Straits' 'Money for Nothing' Banned in Canada

The good part is lot of radio stations played the song over and over to protest the ban. Very good !!

Isn't a good song or what? Sting sings too. The intro new age electronic, à la Vangelis or Pink Floyd. His deadly riff, best of the world. We are hyponotised by this riff so well delivered, enough crisp and clean. And Mark Knopfler who is among the nicest guy on earth had to say he's sorry if it was offensive but he's been friend with gays since ever and the lyrics of the song, I mean, it's two dude working on delivery and the tell their story, they are characters not representing Knopfler's opinion, I mean, we got embarrassed for making a one day shit to Knopfler, the classyest guy of rock and roll alive. And that was done with our taxes, all canadians.
