Maybe Bergevin is going to invent something new here, win with loaded wings and defensive responsible centers. :naughty:

Because it's easier to commit yourself long term towards a 28 year old than a 30 year old. The maximum contract would lead him to 36 yeasrs old instead of 38. Huge difference. Also you would be paying for better quality years over the length of that contract. Pretty simple logic if you ask me :dunno:

Yeah honestly I wouldn't look too much into the +/-, sometimes it is representative, sometimes it just turn out that way for whatever circumstances, either way Drouin has off the chart offensive IQ/poise/creativity and puck skill this is what we got, Drouin isn't the all around player who you also put on your PK, well I'm fine with that, we have plenty of those, maximize his usage in the O zone, we struggle badly to create scoring offense, Drouin will help greatly in this regard. In the end, I am sure Drouin is able to create way more offensive chances than cost us on the defensive side of things.
 
Has Shot Suppression stats are actually above average.... not great, not even very good... just slightly above average.

In other words, not a world beater defensively, but not a liability either.

On the Hero Chart, he's a 6/10. Chuck is a 2/10. (5 = average, 10 = elite).

We get rid of PK because he's to big for the team, ego wtv and we trade and sign for drouin and even bigger headcase?

Great MB figured out a way to stay on as GM for another few years. Get a high potential flop of a french canadian to take everyones mind away.

I'm right with you man. You know what I hate the most about this trade? Drouin is an over the hill has been immature son of a ***** at 22.

Ughhh Hate Bergevin with all my guts. Let's start a march or something.

Who's "we"? The vast majority of HF posters are loving this deal. Why make a generality out of the few who have a different opinion, which they're entitled to anyway. You'll never have a fully unanimous approval on anything, it comes with the territory of making a decision where the team is giving up something of value to get something of value.

Best take on this move is the post that argued how this trade fills a sore need for the Habs, regardless of whether Sergachev has a better career than Drouin or not. Lack of offense has been a glaring need for the longest time. While it's difficult to ask for the perfect deal (like an offensive contributor who happens to be a C), this one comes damn close. The PP will get a huge shot in the arm. And Drouin will get to improve under a patient, nurturing coach like Claude Julien, not a punishing tyrant like his predecessor.

Chucky can pass the puck alright... I disagree with the notion he's a shooter. He can do pretty much anything in the offensive zone.
