I don't know how to react Sergachev is going to be one of the best defenseman in the league in a few years but on the other hand we acquire un ptit gars d'chez nous.

In fact, if Tampa handle the situation well, they could sign Sergachev to a 8 yrs deal when he is about 24 yrs old, what leads to 32 years old in the same organization.. Why didnt Bergevin sign Drouin for 8 yrs instead of 6 exactly?? I dont understand the logic??

Tampa is not exactly a model of execution. They've fumbled a lot of pucks over the last 3-4 seasons, INCLUDING that one of Drouin, who should have become the cornerstone of their offence.

I'm right with you man. You know what I hate the most about this trade? Drouin is an over the hill has been immature son of a ***** at 22.

Ughhh Hate Bergevin with all my guts. Let's start a march or something.

Man... You're so good at sarcasm I can't even tell if you're being sarcastic!

Yes!

Get LV to take Plekanec, then try something like this:

Pacioretty-Drouin-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Galchenyuk-Radulov
Byron-Danault-Shaw
Hudon-DeLaRose-McCarron
.....Martinsen, Mitchell

Beaulieu-Weber
Markov-Petry
Emelin-Benn
...Jerabek

Under a 73 million cap, with that roster, and Plekanec in Vegas.....

You have 23 million with the following to sign: Galchenyuk, Radulov, Beaulieu, Markov.

With reports that the cap will go up to at least 75 million, you'd have 25 million to spend.

Lets go high in my estimates.

Markov - 5.5 million
Radulov - 6.5 million
Galchenyuk - 6 million

18 million. (and thats guessing those three contracts on the high side).

You could have that lineup, AND have the FA money to upgrade on Defence.

You could change Beaulieu into a $6 million defender and still have $1 million in wiggle room for call-ups when injuries hit.

Plus Emelin would come off the books before Price's raise comes due.

If you wanted to go all in next year on that lineup, that could be done.

Tbh I'd rather have Dumba. I like Brodin but this is the first year he ever broke 20 assists. I think Dumba could be a quality young player for years to come who seems to only be getting better.

Wouldn't cry if we got Brodin either tho.

Didn't see him much, but Brodin has similar stats than Nathan Beaulieu. Is he much an upgrade over him?

Before this trade, I got the sense that most HF posters strongly supported the deal.

Of all of MB's faults, he did not make too many rash trades, despite most fans calling for them.

Only time will tell how good Sergachev becomes, and how good good Drouin becomes. It will take at least 5 years to see who won this trade.

come on man, (not aimed only at you btw) but the kid is barely 22 ffs... listen, i didn't like his primadonna bs either, he's still a f***in kid though, let's cut him some slack... don't get me wrong, i love chucky and didn't think he had a fair shot after putting 25pts in 28 games as a C (i know i'm gonna get s*** on for that but he was never really a C to me anyways) i still love what he brings to the team and would be mad if we gave him away for anyone less talented... and i LOVED misha too... a lot actually, but complaining about this move seems like blind hate to me... we needed offense, we got offense... we didn't trade sergachev for freakin 48 year old joe thornton or anything, we got a legit 22 year old top 6 fwd... nothing to do with nationality... for me anyways

Well if you go the Lightning board, you'd read that Drouin has failed at C there also. I dont think this solves our issues down the middle but if we can some how retain Galch, and Radulov then I believe it compensates for it a lil.

Wow. just.. wow

Ive wanted Drouin for 4 years now...dream come true for me as well

it sucks to lose sergy but...honest to god..we can all admit it now, he scared the **** out of us defensively.. the offense is there..he will produce and be dangerous...but wow that kid is gonna get scored on for sure, take her easy Mikhail it was fun, but you were no sure thing, Drouin however, is a budding superstar in the making, electrifying is the only word to describe him

Me and my buddy always disccused these past couple years how not tanking in 2013 to get one of the big 4 was a huge blow to the progression of the team, teams get better with multiple top 5 picks for 3-4 years in a row, and we really needed to add to picking galchenyuk 3rd overall, drouin had an even better season than mackinnon that year who went 1st overall because of the blazing speed he posseses

out of nowhere, we now have one of the big 4 from 2013 as if we tanked after all that year lol, and oh my god i couldnt be happier, only better player would of been barkov lol, Drouin will do juuuuuuuuuuuust fine all things consiered (french star who is geniunely thrilled to be a hab)

i remember how pissed i was when i heard Drouin was refusing to report to AHL, as if "****, bergevin will never trade for him now.." thank god lol

im impressed Bergy.... now dont **** it up in these next 2-3 weeks... Radulov and Galchenyuk MUST STAY

Agree with you about keeping Chucky and Radulov. And getting Drouin.

Pittsburgh showed everyone that you don't need an "elite" PMD to win a Cup. All that's needed is a system that focuses on making and completing short passes to exit the zone.

This contract may very well look like a steal in by year 2 of 6. What a day for Bergevin.

Wouldn't cry if we got Brodin either tho.

Dumba is prone to more brain cramps than Tom Gilbert. He'll be run outta town within 2-3 seasons.

Can we trade Patches + Beaulieu to CBJ for Murray + Jenner?

im trying to wrap my head around this.
We get rid of PK because he's to big for the team, ego wtv and we trade and sign for drouin and even bigger headcase?

Great MB figured out a way to stay on as GM for another few years. Get a high potential flop of a french canadian to take everyones mind away.

****ing mcdonagh trade all over again, i mean not as bad, but good buy top 10 nhl dman for someones used condom.

And last season it was why get the head case Radulov?

These "head cases" were that way in their teens. People tend to mature as they get older and learn from their mistakes.

Apparently Bergy hasn't learned his lesson about signing players long term before they play a game for your team.

Or he completely avoided another Subban situation by signing a player short-term and then overpaying by a large margin after he breaks out.

No, he's at 43.6 in 220 attempts in 73 games. That's his last season face off performance. He's not a center regardless of his play making skills. He's always been an elite shooter/offensive player first. We have problems with our offensively minded center because some beat on him for not playing enough defense and now these people want to convert an elite winger to center who was blamed for the EXACT same thing?

Some people need a slap or a beer.

And I was liking my idea of converting Beaulieu into a center because he's big better anyway. :sarcasm:

How about converting Gallagher into a goaltender because he spends tons of time in the crease?

Hockey sense is a skill that cannot be taught.

Face offs are a skill that can be taught.

Critical thinking overrides the need for slaps or beer.

Come on man. There's a limit to never be happy about something. I will agree that in the end, only what the TEAM look like will matter in October. But that's a great trade. And it will be a very good contract. Drouin is a special talent. Something we didn't have a lot of.

The ONLY problem that could happen is to relive a Galchy story with him too, taking him from C to Wing to C to Wing..until this kid is also all ****ed up. If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's that one. Decide on a position...and keep him there. Use him where he shines the most. Not where you were unable to do **** to improve.

These "head cases" were that way in their teens. People tend to mature as they get older and learn from their mistakes.

even Ken Dryden refused to play a whole season in the 70's because he wanted more money.

Thats exactly what is wrong.. How does Drouin make us that much better if we dont re-sign Radulov or dont find a way to get a real top 6 center?? As far as Im concerned Drouin is an upgrade over Radulov thats for sure, but that wont be enough to make us much better up front, still less a real contender..

How are the two related?

The reason Radulov is not signed right now is that Bergevin is not willing to give him 7-8 years. If anything, getting Drouin helps the Habs because Radulov has a bit less leverage.

The possibility of not resigning Radulov was always there.
