Interesting interview with Georges Laracque on CKAC. He said that Sergachev has somes serious outside the ice issues and said he's not surprised to see him traded because of that.

He also said that Habs have another deal Under construction and could be finalized today or tomorrow.

This is just straight BS from Laraque. Bergevin refused to trade him all year and only traded him when he got an excellent player in return.

Sergachev seems like a great kid and he's going to be a hell of a player.

Sergachev

Now BGL saying there are some serious off ice issues about Sergachev that made it easier for the Habs to deal him. And apparently these issues are known by several individuals. Again, FWIW.

Zero off ice issues that I was aware of, Spitfire follower who is in constant contact will his billets.
Excellent on and off ice work habits.

Reports of ice-problems coming out as soon as the player is traded. If you have something to say, just say it. Late for curfews, disrespectful to coaches, drinking, too much partying, not in shape, not a good teammate, or whatever off ice issues entail. To just throw a random accusation is kind of... dirty.

I heard nothing and I have family that works with the spits. It is true he had his bell rung while a hab. So it might be a concern with concussions? But that is about the ONLY thing that I know of. More none sense from Emperor Purple Pants.

Just common sense! People undervalue Shaw if they think he can go unprotected. Not only would he get picked up, I'm 100% positive, they'd turn around and trade him. I'm sure Boston or Toronto would love to pick him up....

If LV would take Shaw we should unprotect him 2 years ago. I don't even dislike Shaw but we have WAY too many small-ish wingers and he's the weakest imo. Unless we can get something good for Gallagher. Really good. Byron and Lehkonen are keepers

Shaw is redundant unless we can somehow swap Gallagher for a guy like RNH.

I'd have no problem at all leaving him unprotected.

I agree 100%. Shaw is my least favourite winger on this team and his contract is just, ugghhh.. put him out there as bait and see if LV bites.

Come on, guys, George Laraque has a few sources, but that's about it. He's building a narrative here just to get attention. Guy's an attention *****.

If Drouin is going to be tried out at center, that's fine. He can put in some time next season at the 2C spot. But relying on this winger to be the saviour 1C that we need?

That absolutely cannot be a course of action. A top line center must be aqcuired.

Why?

In the past 15 months, if he just re-signs Galchenyuk and Radulov, MB would have added 3 top 6 players and 2 more good third liners.

I say play Drouin and Galchenyuk at Center through the trade deadline, and if think at point that a vet can take us over the top, get someone then.

This. Let's not be the kind of fanbase that tries to defame the character of anyone who leaves the team. It happened with Subban and it made me sick.

Sergy and Subban both seem like genuine, great people. But business is business, I wish them great success in their careers... just not at the expense of the Habs

1. Drouin is not a center. He is a winger.
2. The Habs have decided they are not playing Galchenyuk on the wing, hence why they are trying to trade him.
3. Our top 6 centers next season would be Plekanec and Danault. That is absolutely horrible. 100% horrible. About the worst center line in the league next to Arizona.

Bergevin needs to acquire a top 6 center at the very least. You absolutely cannot go into next season with 2 third liners as your top 6 centers.

Wow. just.. wow

Ive wanted Drouin for 4 years now...dream come true for me as well

it sucks to lose sergy but...honest to god..we can all admit it now, he scared the **** out of us defensively.. the offense is there..he will produce and be dangerous...but wow that kid is gonna get scored on for sure, take her easy Mikhail it was fun, but you were no sure thing, Drouin however, is a budding superstar in the making, electrifying is the only word to describe him

Me and my buddy always disccused these past couple years how not tanking in 2013 to get one of the big 4 was a huge blow to the progression of the team, teams get better with multiple top 5 picks for 3-4 years in a row, and we really needed to add to picking galchenyuk 3rd overall, drouin had an even better season than mackinnon that year who went 1st overall because of the blazing speed he posseses

out of nowhere, we now have one of the big 4 from 2013 as if we tanked after all that year lol, and oh my god i couldnt be happier, only better player would of been barkov lol, Drouin will do juuuuuuuuuuuust fine all things consiered (french star who is geniunely thrilled to be a hab)

i remember how pissed i was when i heard Drouin was refusing to report to AHL, as if "****, bergevin will never trade for him now.." thank god lol

im impressed Bergy.... now dont **** it up in these next 2-3 weeks... Radulov and Galchenyuk MUST STAY

Wow pump the brakes there, I wouldn't classify Drouin as a superstar. Twenty-one goals is not what I would classify as "electrifying."

20+ goals for a playmaker is good goal production.

Even better when you consider his age !

Drouin has mad skills.

Good trade but Jonathon is not a "superstar", "PPG winger" , "elite game breaker" ect...

Foward drafted top 5 usually dont take time to develop and reach their offense peak at 22-23 years old .Drouin is a 60-65 points PP specialist.

Thank you for being a rare voice of reason!

Is Drouin insanely overrated everywhere else, or just in the Habs sub?

We had better snap up Vatanen/Fowler, Brodin, or Ellis (CBF to check whose LD), and on the cheap, but I'm afraid half the league will be trying to acquire them as well.

Ok then, 32 assists is not playmaking superstar material.

I'm not denying his mad skills, he's good, I just don't have the rager for him that others seem to. Maybe being a Habs fan the last 3 decades has bittered me, but I'll reserve getting my hopes up. At least we're in win now mode like we should be.

Marc DeFoy "Enfin du talent Quebecois". jDM
Does this mean he doesn't think much of Danault? :sarcasm:

As far as being insanely overrated we are going to enjoy his vision and his speed and his PP prowess.
What remains to be seen is will we have the horses to insulate him???
Hockey lines will often play down to the lowest common denominator.
As many have pointed out getting Rad's back is primordial.
Even AG27 may have more value with us than what we'd get via trade.

take it up with George Laraque then.

I don't know about JDM archives, but I'd be curious to see if DeFoy wrote a Habs article following the win vs. WPG where Danault channeled Bobby Orr in an end to end goal...

Problem with Laraque is how he puts together a couple of rumors that pan out and then he throws some toxic waste in there, that he won't back up.

I agree, it's far too easy to smack the departed player to try and prop the incoming asset. It's a time-honored ******* move, unless it's backed up by facts. And since there are no facts, Laraque's droppings are always tagged with a "FWIW" label.
