I agree Wolf is untouchable but I really can’t see Vladar getting a 1st. Teams know the Flames are likely moving on from him next year and while he was solid last year he wasn’t amazing.Vladar got a 3rd last year and he had a great year. You don’t trade him for just a second.
Wolf is off the table. He’s going to be a top 5-10 goalie. If Tre was an elite GM he would have moved on from Markstrom and likely gained an asset. Oh well
Great for the tankMontembeault has looked great so far.
agreed, and Wolf has been damn good every step of the way but way to early to label him a future top 10 goalie. My dynasty team hopes he is though.I agree Wolf is untouchable but I really can’t see Vladar getting a 1st. I’m a Flames fan - just being realistic. Young goalies don’t return 1st rounders unless they’re a very high-end prospect.
Like who?Top 10 potential doesn't mean that potential is sure to be realized. Guys like Knight and Oettinger are likely to be top 10, but there are probably 20 to 40 guys in the 19 to 23 range who could be in the top 10 at some point. Some team will have one and not have the developmental icetime available, and will be open to trading.
This is actually the most realistic scenario - I personally still like DiPietro’s potential .Dipietro would cost like a 6th or 7th rounder.
Like who? Who are the 20-40 guys who could be top 10 and better than what the Habs have to make it worth making a trade? Is there a chance one of those players becomes a top 10? Sure. Absolutely. But the question here is for a young, under 26 goalie, who is viewed as having top 10 potential.Top 10 potential doesn't mean that potential is sure to be realized. Yup. Lost my old pth account here for some reason.BTW...are you pth from the other place?
Just read how every teams fans thinks its goalie prospect is a surefire top 10...Like who? I knew this place was getting smarter....Yup. Lost my old pth account here for some reason.

Can’t get a first this season, but if he has another good season I think he should easily get a first. There is a serious shortage of good young goalies out there. Supply and demand says Vladar could be quite valuable imoI agree Wolf is untouchable but I really can’t see Vladar getting a 1st. I would advise you guys to keep Sammy, my bet is he will be your number 1 by the end of the seasonYou MIGHT be able to convince us to part with Samsonov for Allen(50% retained) and Calgary's 2025 1st rounder. It's tough to let him go, but we need the 1st rounder more.
Well, you also only have so much developmental ice time... this should be Primeau's last AHL season. Who gets the AHL playing time after? I'm not sold on anyone in the Habs system.I think the Habs should just wait and see.
No rush right now.
They've got a handful of guys in the system who might pan out.
Goalies are so hard to predict.
Nopewhats up with Wolf are flames fans interested in trading him since they have Markstrom he has good stats but i know hes also so skinny does he have a future in the NHL?
Price was one of the exceptions that was elite from minute one.
I'm looking for that "figures it out" goalie who is ypung enough to grow.
We got 3-4 year window to contend and that means someone 26 or younger. That gives us an early 30s goalie with a 5 year window.
Price spoiled us, but also hid the huge holes we had.
Moving on...

I am simply unaware that any of them holds great potential. I'll be glad if I'm wrong.Never heard of Dobes?
EDIT: Dichow is pretty interesting too. If Vrbetic wakes up, we can sign him to be the AHL backup if Dobes stays another year in the NCAA. If anything, we could be tight at the pro level if we end up signing all 3.
DONE!
We have 3 ''figure it out'' goalies in the system.
Primeau, Dobes and Dichow.
I don't have much hope for Vrbetic, but Croteau could have a Dobes-like pathway.
We won't get better than that via trade without jeopardizing the rest of the building effort.
The best hope we have for this kind of goalie is a Samsonov situation or an Euro FA, but we're not going to get their interest before we start trending up, especially on D. I don't think any G in the world would be eager to play behind our next year D (unless the prospects all go Super Saiyan).
Just draft a goalie high in the first round next draft.Price is done. Thanks, i love you, but we need to move on.
We have Primeau but in my opinion, he's not top 10 NHL starter material.
So the thread question....What is available under 26 that is underated or stuck behind a top goalie? He needs to have top 10 "potential" or we stay with what we have.
As much as a late 1st is available, but it may get complicated! LOL
Thoughts?
.
He's the same age as Primeau though, so will need waivers at the same time, so that's a tough sell.DiPietro from the Canucks. No games for 18 months(taxi squad/injuries) crushed him, he still has a high ceiling, and his acquisition cost would be a 4th or less.
