They got a 13OA for the next Pavel Zacha. Great trade recovery.

Great move from Montreal imo. Picks can be such dice rolls, especially outside of the top 10. It seems Chicago was intent on moving him
Yeah, Dach and his putrid stats and wrist injury aren’t a dice roll at all. :sarcasm:

I’m pretty okay with this. Outside a solid rookie year, Dach hasn’t shown much of his time in the NHL. Don’t know how to weigh his injuries, drive, or ceiling, but he wasn’t working out very well here and we got value for him.

Young unproven D for young unproven C . Don’t see how it’s a fleecing for anyone . I did like Romanov but Habs do have young D coming and Guhle should be in the nhl next season .
For me the issue is not trading Romanov, it is getting Dach who has been injured and shown almost nothing at NHL level. People were mad about KK, that s a similar frame and injury history.

i genuinely hope he will succeed with the Habs but he is a huge gamble at this stage.

May I remind everybody what happened last time MTL traded a promising Russian D for a disappointing former 3OA (with injury history now)?

Dach came in as 3rd O, but has shown little in 3 years. Why the rush? Slaf and Dach look like potential busts. I am regretting Bergevin, believe it or not.
What is it about both players skillets that you don't like?

It became the most overrated trade in hf history?

Sounds like that goofy kid that Carolina offer sheeted from us last year
Bowman and Colliton are probably to blame for some of it, rushed him back from a really bad injury after WJC, but CHI interim coach this year also made a comment that basically hinted that Kirby needs to reset his expectations for the kind of player he thinks he is and what he can actually be in the NHL...think they just soured on him and wanted to move on, the ceiling is still there if his wrist is fine

Thinking Romy may have wanted too much money as a RFA??
I'm thinking this is a way to avoid having to give him a raise, since we have multiple kids coming in on rookie deals.

Even a fair deal was going to eat up cap room that is rare these days.

I don't follow other teams that closely but I remember really being jealous of the hawks and dach in his rookie year. Was there a lot of optimism during that season for him with hawks fans?

yeah, absolutely...Kirby was awesome in the bubble, all went downhill when they sent him to the WJC and he shattered his wrist

Nazar+ for Dach looks really really good after watching Dach this past year.

Shame what Dach has been since his wrist was folded like an accordian.

Did we win this trade? I thought dach was stinky
Dach has some talent but is soft mentally and physically. Makes a lot more bad plays than good. There is the potential for new surroundings to wake him up but, i doubt it. I don't think he will be able to handle the pressure of playing in Montreal.

Low relative to what dach's value use to be? Do you not know what that saying means?
What it used to be 2-3 years ago? Sure. After having toilet stats and injury issues, no, 13OA+ is not buying low.

It’s honestly scary how quickly Habs fans can delude themselves into drinking the kool-aid.

You can't buy low on a player who's value has gone up...

Like, you really just don't understand that phrase, so you?

Why did he get drafted 13th for such an elite player?
This is such a stupid comment, I mentioned Barzal would be an elite player at 16, Chychrun at 16, Kyle Connor, etc.

You can find elite talent in the mid 1st round - surprise

Ok. Explain to me how an overpayment is “buying low.”

Edit: Also explain to me how Dach’s value has gone up.
