Wow habs wanted to get bigger with slaf and dach. I like Romanov a lot but guhle, Barron and Harris are all coming. I guess they felt the gamble on a dach was same as on a wright? Who knows

Forgot to add Mailloux and Arber

As Hawk fan I am fine with this

Dach has been a disappointment and outside of Oilers series hasn't shown much

His wrist injury was major issue but overall he has struggled and was playing wing at parts of season so his future as a C is questionable IMO

For Hawks if they held onto him and he continued to struggle his value would be greatly diminished so moving him now while risky is also possibly smart move

Debrincat trade was abomination, but this move is more understandable and while it has potential to haunt Hawks there is also great chance it works out for Hawks IMO

Hawks are stupid to trade Each especially when they're rebuilding. They didn't learn from the Trainerovao trade?

I like the value for Dach in this trade alone but don't love giving up Romanov. Knew something had to give with the left D depth but didn't think it'd be him

Really thought when Gary got up there they were pulling a Costner Draft Day lol. The must feel more confident about Dach than they do Wright at this point

Welcome Dach to Montreal!!! Excited for his potential over the next few years. It takes players typically 400 NHL games to break out (if they are going to be good and aren't immediate stars). Dach is under 150 games played. Worth the gamble.

don't know how I feel about this for Habs - they didn't need to rush out and get another Forward that can play right this minute. Give romanov time.

yea I do kind of agree I think its low-key an acknowledgement that they are going for a top pick again next year taking Romanov away makes that easier

Hate giving up Romanov, but I think it's worth buying low on a guy that still has great potential.

Would have prefered to just draft Wright though *sigh*
I disagree. id rather have a future core of

Suzuki-Caufield
Dach-Slafkovsky
Guhle-Barron

than

Suzuki-Caufield
Wright
Romanov-Guhle
Barron

Dach came in as 3rd O, but has shown little in 3 years. Why the rush? Slaf and Dach look like potential busts. I am regretting Bergevin, believe it or not.

I loved Romanov and I'm not too happy about this trade but I will keep an open mind and hope Dach takes the next step...but Romanov doesn't have the offense to be a 1st pairing guy imo, he wouldn't grow much more than his current #4 role.

Habs feel Dach will be at least as good as Wright would be my guess. This way they get a centre in Dach and Slafkovsky as opposed to only Wright.

I've seen a lot of Wright this year, he's dropped off big time. Looks nowhere near ready.

I liked Romy too. Though I think Guhle will replace him well, probably better. I guess Hughes felt he was expendable, and favors faster skating Dmen.

Good trade by Habs.

Romanov will be a good #4 but will never be a top pairing defenseman. If Dach can be a big #2 center for them, then it's easily a win.
