I really liked this kid as a prospect, thought he was going to be an absolute monster but the reaction to this seems kinda lukewarm. What went wrong with him in Chicago? Although the 13th overall pick indicates he was still valued highly.

bad wrist injury is the thing that went wrong. can take a while for a guy to find his game after that

I guess it all depends on Dach, but that is a high price to pay for him. The difference between this return and Debrincat's is not their difference in skill for sure. I would wager the Hawks win this one, but who knows...

Yeah not a fan of that trade. Idk what they see in Dach

I was happy to trade Romanov for 13th OA, but flip that for Dach? Ludicrous

Romanov + 98th + 66th for Dach, it's not that much but I don't think if it's the right move. I also don't know much about Dach.

If that was the flip sure. But why not keep the 13th OA instead of getting Dach? :(

You guys turned Romanov + 3rd + 4th for Dach. That's an insane deal - and Dach is really good upside.

Not sure why you're upset about this - Dach's floor is a 3rd line center with 1st line center upside. Easily better than whatever is available at 13.

I don't know what's worse. The fact that the Hawks traded a guy they took #3 overall after 3 years for a worse 1st, or the fact that the Habs traded a 1st for a guy who's been crap in the NHL so far.

This seems like a rare lose-lose-lose trade from all teams involved. The NYI overpaid for Romanov, the Habs overpaid for Dach and the sunk cost of drafting Dach at #3 only 3 years ago makes this look awful for Chicago.

We just wasted Romanov and 2 picks for a 3rd Center

Sick new management , from perfect trade deadline into a Joel Armia 2.0 and a 3rd line center.
Now when we trade Petry we literally have nobody to play in the top 4 defensively.

We better win Bedard race because if not this team is doomed for 5-6 years

I love how you say this with such absolution. Even Bob Mckenzie put Slafkovsky ahead of Wright. You're making a lot of assumptions on players we don't know.

As a habs fan, I agree with you. Romanov is a decent defenseman, but his offensive potential is limited. Dach is at worse a 3rd line center who might become a good 6’4’’ second line center.

I just don't see Dach being a dominant center. Bet he becomes a 3rd line center

The Kotkaniemi disapointment is still too recent haha

Dach is still young, hopefully he trends up.
The kid was playing with Kane/Debrincat and produced at a similar rate as Jake Evans

But hey, overreaction of the moment :)

I feel like this trade boils down to one team will comes out looking like a genius some five years from now.
