Serious question for the novice hockey fans who don’t see anything wrong with Grieg unloading “a clapper” five feet away from an empty net - - why do you suppose we don’t see more players taking “a clapper” like that on empty net breakaways?
What’s a “clapper”? Do you mean “slapper” as in slapshot?

You are more likely to miss if you do a full wind up than if you tap it in.

Also, look up the Stefan missed goal against the Oilers to see what happens when you show boat.

you dont have to like or even understand hockey culture but it exists. that play is always going to end up in a scrum regardless of the player or teams involved. the only reason for that play is to intentionally antagonize your opponent. im all for the slapshot too but it was a totally cowardly move to run away from the scrum. grieg should have taken that slapper and immediately turned around and faced rielly.
Seems to me like Rielly was schooled by Greig.

If you can’t handle a guy taking a slap shot into your empty net, play better so they don’t get the chance.

There’s nothing hockey about what Reilly did. Should be a many many games suspension, but it’s the NHL so 50 bucks and a handwritten apology on a napkin aughtta do it.

Greig took a blindside cross check to the head. The force of which knocked him silly. How was he, while in that state, join the resulting scrum?

Absolute joke if it’s not an in person hearing. So I suppose that means it will be a phone hearing.

So the proper response to show boating is, assault? Just sounds like immature dudes who can’t handle essentially trash talk.

It's like Tyson Nash's comments about Zegras.

Reilly going in with the his gloves off and fists is within the bounds of the game. Drilling someone in the face with a stick is never the right response.

the DOPS is awaiting word from Gary Bettman on how to cover for the Maple Leafs and Morgan...that is typical of both the DOPS and Gary...
The real answer is they're on the phones with multiple "league insiders" floating ideas, reading the reactions on twitter and other sites.

First it was leaked they were "gathering information", then people were wondering why the f*** it wasn't automatically in person?

And so a little later another insider says they're debating in person vs phone and now they're reading through that reaction trying to determine if 4-6 games is acceptable and people will move on.
