Wasn’t the Anderson one during play though. What makes the Reilly attack more similar to the Perron one was its very long after the play and to the head of a guy not seeing it coming.
looking at the andersson one, Laine was attempting a shot and andersson went high on an unexpecting guy there. I guess happening in play you could try to go the route that he was just trying to stop the play and f***ed up whereas this play and perrons, the intent is obvious

I still think the outcome of that hit was pretty nasty and that has to count for something too. He got all head just like Rielly with greig

I wonder if provocation is taken into any consideration, against the “code” or not Grieg knew that would’ve provoked a leafs player so I wonder if that’s taken into consideration at all, perrons was thinking he was sticking up for a teammate after a weird scuffle happened

Kinda grasping at straws above, but idk I think it falls in between both of them

Taking a slapper on an empty net is rubbing salt a little bit, and worthy of a face wash in retribution. A crosscheck to the head is far overboard and Reilly should be suspended.

Whats more, according to the "code" that people defending Rielly bring up. Rielly will have to fight the biggest guy the Sens can bring into a game next time these teams play each other.

Like people just say “it’s the code”. But like seriously. What is the actual problem with the slapshot? No one can explain that other than “it’s the code”

The argument is that is showboating. You see similar things in other sports. In baseball you aren't supposed to hit a homer to run up the score.

I find these types of unwritten rules silly.

Grieg was the one who learned a lesson TBH
what lesson did he learn? the lesson that Morgan Rielly is a savage and does not respect his working colleagues, does not have any self settling techniques at all and chooses to use a weapon and intend to injure a person all because his team and he sucked balls and let Grieg and Ottawa score a goal? Morgan is the one that will be taught a lesson IMO. Anything less than 15 games is an absolute joke but that is what the NHL and the DOPS is...A joke...

Other teams have a bit more class it seems. Probably when you never see a slapshot on an empty net goal.

He probably saw the Stefan clip too many times and he didn't want f*** it up. I actually don't have a problem with what Greig did (our players are p***yes and deserve to get disrespected), and I don't have a problem with Reilly responding. I just don't like the cross check to the head.

Seems like Rielly wasn't trying so hard:

Us Leaf haters have enjoyed a great many nights together over the decades. From Kerry Fraser straight up telling the media, "Wayne's high stick on Dougie was a good clean chop" to the Devils toying around with them in back-to-back semis. Roenick going bar down. 4-1 lesd in the third period. 3-1 lead in the COVID Cup Quarters. Never did I think this particular level of collective piss dribble out their narrow ureties could be the most hilarious Leafs moment in history.
Well said
