Can (MOST) Leafs fans agree it is easily a multi game suspension worthy cross check?

Yes.

I think some people might be conflating their appreciation of Rielly giving a damn (a rarity amongst Leaf players it seems, much to the annoyance of this fanbase), but his resulting action was waaaaay over the line (suspension worthy, easily).

5 games minimum.

It’s very similar to Terrell Owens celebrating on the midfield star in Cowboys Stadium and Darren Woodson levelling him with a blindside hit in mid celebration.

Nothing wrong with the showboating by Owens and nothing wrong with the hit by Woodson.
Well Woodson didn't have a stick.
Not even comparable. He literally just pushed him over.

Let’s not get overly dramatic and try to embellish the hit.

He didn’t get “cross checked to the face” - - it was a shove to the side of his helmet/visor.

If it had been an actual “cross checked to the face” Greig would have lying in a pool of blood with some missing feet and likely a fracture or two in his face.

Maybe soccer is a more appropriate sport for you to watch.

"A shove".

Perfection.

Norris saying “I love it, but if I was on the other side I wouldn’t” pretty typifies the Sens fans here. They’d be crying to all hell about the showmanship and I can bet a guy like Tkachuk would go ape shit.

That said, there were a million ways for Rielly to challenge him without going straight to a cross-check in the face.

Has Greig said a word about this?

I liked the response from Ottawa after the Rielly cheap shot. The Ottawa player went right after Rielly.
I’d expect 3 games for that kind of unprovoked play from Rielly as it was not part of the flow of the game.

You obviously know dick about Morgan Rielly - the man's never been suspended (or even fined) during his entire career.

He was correct to react, in the heat of the moment he overreacted, he will likely be suspended, all the haters will whine about how did didn't get suspended for enough games and life will go on.
For sure some of us here hate the lack of consistency in the how the league suspends players. If Reilly gets less than five games there will be those here who hate that the league didn’t apply more.

Lol Ottawa. You can tell playing Toronto is their Stanley cup after scoring an empty net goal like that.

Enjoy the bottom of the standings and being the joke of the league as usual.
Yet we still have more playoff series wins than you since 2017 despite not being in the playoff since then

Again for the 10th time, I AM NOT OK WITH WHAT RIELLY DID, I am ok with the fact he did something, but not a sucker crosscheck to the side of a guys head.
good to hear, too bad so many folks out there think Morgan not only did not do anything wrong but some are actually applauding his actions...what a sick, sick world it is

The majority of Leafs fans already have. Dozens of times. They've already agreed it's suspension worthy. Not sure why people are accusing them of not saying that.

It seems that Leafs fans are saying it's a suspension, but very much worth it.
I should have added a number to quantify it I suppose.

2 or fewer?

3 or 4 games?

5 or 6 games?

Probably 3-5 games is what I’d say

Perron got 6 and in my opinion I thought that was worse

Andersson got 4 against Laine for headhunting when Laine went for the empty netter and I think that was around the same as this

What Greig did was bush league, but it didn't warrant the response. Suspension deserved

Serious question for the novice hockey fans who don’t see anything wrong with Grieg unloading “a clapper” five feet away from an empty net - - why do you suppose we don’t see more players taking “a clapper” like that on empty net breakaways?

Neutral Fan here..................Morgan Reilly is a great Dman, and very well respected.....
That said, this was careless, there could have been retribition as per se, but not that............deliverate shot at the head.
It's got to be 4-6 games guys............has to be.

A question for leaf fans..................is Sheldon Keefe the right coach? The same problems the leafs have had for years now still exist.......it seems this guy is not the right coach, but I don't see enough of the team on an ongoing basis, to stand on that.............just a question.
I think I speak for a substantial majority of Leaf fans who post here when I say that we would be very happy with a new coach. I've defended him often times but after the last playoffs, I got on the fire Keefe bandwagon as well. He's not the worst coach I've ever seen and every coach f***s up now and then, so part of is just that it's time for a change and as the saying goes, it's easier to replace one coach than to replace an entire roster. That said, there a number of valid issues people have with him as well.

Agree to disagree. Suspension history or not, that wasnt a defendable play.

I stand by what I said, and is true for any player. Using your stick as a weapon to attack an opponent is cowardly.

Narrator: It was in fact a direct cross check from the blindside to his head.
