If Matthews or Marner slapped a puck like that into an empty net I would expect a response similar to what Rielly or even Domi did tonight.

and what does fighting have to do with this. Who's fighting who exactly?

The 21 year old rooking with less than 60 games isn't fighting anyone.

He's hoping he doesn't get hurt and can make the NHL again next year.

And that's the smart, sensible thing for him to prioritize.

?? Okay sure but I'm not here much of a difference? He's still asked about the entire thing, even when offered to talk about one or the other.

He's clearly talking about Greig in this clip though.

'Sometimes emotions get the best of you. I know Greig and he's a good kid but sometimes emotions get the best of you and the crowd was into the game as well'

You think he's talking about Rielly there?

Ok and? Do you think he is afraid of… Morgan Rielly?

The poster was clearly talking about Reilly lol

Dude, you need to stop, your takes in this thread are ultra embarrassing. Rielly actually looks like Einstein in comparison…
You are just making things up.
Besides, I don't care about your embarrassment. It is nothing personal. I just don't think people should get embarrassed so easily. If that is who you are, it is fine.

Greig fought Lagesson the last time the sens played the leafs.

How many times does it need to be repeated that no matter what kind of show boating or unsportsmanlike behavior happens. A CROSSCHECK TO THE HEAD IS NOT WARRANTED.
Sure, but it's still a provocation, and if the opposing player takes issue with it, then that can happen. You would like it not to be a cross to the shoulder that carries on to his neck, but like the saying goes "F&*k around and find out."

So...

you're basing an argument on an interview you haven't heard?
I'm basing my response on what was presented to me and asked for the person who viewed it to tell me if anything resembling my questions had been addressed and got nothing.

I'd usually assume that if there were something to say there, they'd say it because it helps their cause, and that they didn't because they're using a small quote to misrepresent a position instead of presenting impartially.

Do you really need me to go watch it just to pin somebody down and say "yup, gotcha" or can we have a discussion where my questions are answered?

Is this really where you have to go to get a "win" in a thread about a cross check to the head?

He's clearly talking about Greig in this clip though.

"Sometimes emotions get the best of you. I know Greig an he's a good kid but sometimes emotions get the best of you"

You think he's talking about Rielly there?
I dunno, it doesn't really sound like he's throwing him under the bus to me. Sounds like the panel was trying to bait a soundbite and G wanted nothing to do with it. It sounds just as much as him excusing what he did than the other way around.

And after all the things Leafs fans talk about having to deal with and how everything is hedged against them, this was the thing that made him see red? Really? We saying that's really worse than all the "Parros bias" hits that Reilly has just ignored and not gotten this type of engaged with?

That's what we're saying here? You guys really think a slapshot into an empty net is worse than the supposed bias against your team in the DOPS and that's why Reilly just lost it here instead of eventually taking one of those dirty hitters to task?
What the hell are you on about?

He could have said what Greig did was a part of the game and Rielly's response was inappropriate.

Instead, he says Greig's a good kid but sometimes emotions get the best of you and the crowd was in the game also... and I don't know, no comment.

That does not justify the response that it got. You as well as Rielly are 100% entitled to not like what Grieg did, thats fine, its not really in question. What is not fine, is the response it elicited.

Didnt watch the game. Was it chippy? Any taunting from the Leafs? If not then its kind of a dick move and im not surprised someone went after him. I am surprised Reilly went after him like that though. If this ignites that rivalry im all for it. I miss the days of Tucker and green going after Chris Neil. Fun times.

Victim complex confirmed...Please don't crosscheck me in the head for hurting your feelings
You haven't hurt my feelings. I won't cross check you in the head for a couple of reasons.
1. It is not proper to cross check a person to the head.
2. There will be no point in doing so.
3. Don't worry. You are not a victim. This complex only exists in poor rhetoric on internet forums.

You're delusional if you don't think Giroux was criticizing his teammate in that interview.

There was nothing in his disposition during and after the question was phrased, twice for clarification, that showed he was in favour of the slap shot.

A veteran like Giroux would not be in favour of that kind of act, and he said just as much on live television to the country.
You don't know G. Season and a half watching/following the guy and I know he'd describe a loaded ice cream sundae as 'cold' and 'just ok'. He's as flat and 'by the book' as they come. Opts out of all promotional content for the team.

You'd get a better soundbite out of a stubborn mule than Giroux. I love him so much.

Nope and Nope. Which is why it was so out of the blue he did that

Okay, since I apparently had to watch it...

Very first question is super, super broad and Giroux immediately asks "are we talking about the slapshot or the crosscheck" and then the response is just "all of it", so he speaks to what he can control as a veteran probably should and keeps things internal. He deflects for his young teammate and answers for him in a way that should diffuse things to an extent.

If the response from the panel was "oh, to the crosscheck" do you really, honestly think Giroux was going to answer "he deserved that 100%"? They're trying to get him to say something they can run back and forth and create drama. Giroux knows the league is either going to do something or not, he's just playing PR.

What the hell are you on about?
Leafs fans whine all the time about offenses much more egregious than "slapshot into a net". If Reilly is just "showing backbone" and didn't pitch a fit why didn't he show that backbone and do this type of thing then? This argument is that what Greig did was so offensive to the code that even a mild mannered player like Reilly had to do something, but... really? That's what we're going with here?

I dunno, Giroux ain't doing that man. The man is getting interviewed by Kevin Bieksa on national TV, the gave was over, they won, they aren't playing again this year, and Greig wasn't injured.

He's not gonna stir shit up and hockey media a soundbite to stir shit all around the Leafs next week, and then replay it when DOPS comes out with a decision, and then bring it up again next year.

Didn't sound like bus throwing at all to me.

So you'd be completely fine with someone running up to a defenseless Matthews, and crosschecking him in the head?

Please, this board would shut down if that happened.

Think Giroux did a good job of dancing around Bieksa's malarkey.
