February 27, 1962 – Québec Pee Wee Tournament. 10-year old Guy Lafleur have just scored 4 goals and three assists for Rockland against Beaupre in a 9-2 win. He followed that up with a five goal performance, plus adding one assist against Charny in a 9-5 win. Then in the quarterfinals against Murdochville, Rockland won 8-6. Lafleur had four goals and two assists. In the semifinal they blanked Amos 8-0 as Lafleur had one goal and four assists. Lafleur then finished off the tournament by scoring two goals and one assist in the ”Class C” final against Richmond, a 6-3 win. Five games in the tournament and 27 points (16+11) for Lafleur, a star was born (I think he actually had 18+14 in the tournament, maybe one game is missing from the newspaper reports)
February 16, 1963 – The year after Lafleur, another future first overall draft pick shined. 12-year old Gilbert Perreault gets a friendly pat on his head after having single-handedly led his Victoriaville team to a 6-3 win against Chicoutimi. Perreault scored all six goals for his team. In the next game Perreault had two goals and one assist in a 4-2 win against Ste-Foy. In the semifinal the strong (eventual winners) Sault Ste.Marie team won 5-1, with Perreault scoring the only goal for his team. In three games Perreault had 10 points (9+1). Just like Lafleur, a star was born. Worth mentioning is that Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne also played this year in the tournament
