Found this last night when I was putting together a WHA montage - this was from New England Whalers' training camp in September 1978 shortly after the team jettisoned Jean-Louis Levasseur to Quebec. The article was focused on how the Whalers still have too many goalies:

I know that O'Toole wore that same mask in multiple stops (including the PHL) and I'm not sure when Garrett got his Birmingham mask redone.

21-year-old Baker spent the year with the Rangers' affiliate in New Haven, but is best known for the team's run to the 1981 Wales Conference Final against the Islanders.

Also interesting is the Louisville Slugger goal stick.

I wondered why did the Rangers wear their then blue road jerseys for Gretzky's last home game. Back then the home team wore white and people liked it

Many of these photos are neither great per se or seen for the first time, but let's go down memory lane for a while.

I tried to find a picture of the man credited with starting the tradition of hoisting the Stanley Cup and skating around the rink with it (captain Ted Lindsay), but I couldn't find a pic of it online.

I did find this great pic of Bobby Orr:

Andy Bathgate scores a lot and here gets himself the Frank Boucher trophy for most popular Ranger, the 4th time he had won it, though perhaps the first time he received it from a fan club member sitting in her skirt on top of the net in which he scores! (Um, yeah,... a different era indeed.)

I saw this for the first time a few days ago, but I don't think it's new. My apologies if it's already been posted in the thread but I didn't see it. A young Tim Horton, to be added to the long list of Bobby Hull pictures when it comes to old timers being ripped:

6-time major league baseball all-star Rusty Staub (original member of the Montreal Expos, the franchise retiring his #10, the first baseman and right fielder who Maclean's magazine in 1970 had a lead story on him entitled "Muscular Millionaire", went on to be in the NY Mets hall of fame, to play for 5 MLB teams over a healthy 23-year career and become a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame) here arm wrestles Howe while Gordie's sons Mark Howe & Marty Howe watch their father compete.

I'll never get tired of posting pictures like this when people say old-timers were out of shape.
