The Moose close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a 4-3 win which was their fourth straight victory (six wins in last seven games).

Manitoba improves to 16-7-2-1 on the season. They sit 2nd in the Central Division. Impressive season so far.

It's nice to see that even with all the call-ups and injuries, the Moose are still rolling along...:thumbu:

Not a great Moose appetizer ahead of the Jets main course. Despite a crowd of over 6000 at Canada Life and it being a 2-2 game heading into the 3rd the home team didn't have it on this day.

Moose could sure use the Jets getting healthy. They registered just three shots total in the 3rd period and only one after the Canucks took the 3-2 lead. That shot came 33 seconds after the Jett Woo goal (Winnipegger got the GWG) and then they didn't register a shot in the final 9:18 of the final frame (despite having a 6 on 5 advantage).

Team is still 16-9-2-1 on the season.

Recap here.

Hey Dave, have you been watching a lot of Moose games? Can you provide some analysis on some players of note (whoever you want or whoever you've been watching)?

I've only gone to a few games and tend to watch certain players rather than the flow.
Bauer - Fun to watch. Quite physical. Hard shot. Limited offensive skill (getting out of zone was difficult a number of times). Teams seem to love players like this as I guess they fill a role.
Chisholm - The best defenseman on the Moose with Heniola with the Jets. Has quite a lot of offensive skill. Nice toe drag, can make a break-out pass, great on the power play. Him and Gawanke seem to get stuck in their own zone a lot (maybe it's just the games I go to).
Lambert - Great for zone entries, great puck handling. He was working the half-wall on the power play and was doing alright. He reminded me watching Ehlers when Ehlers was 18. Skilled but also all-over the ice (lots of time out of position).

Is that the 2nd time this year the Moose have blown a 3 goal lead with less than 6 minutes to go? That's definitely something to work on. Notice that Henri Nikkanen is out there for the late game defensive situations, at centre, so that's a role he is going to want to improve on.

Nice to see Harkins get on the board with a GWG.

Looking at the lineup, with Harkins taking over the top C position on the club, wouldn't be surprised if Dominic Toninato gets the role of mentoring Chaz Lucius through the remainder of the season.

With Eyssimont lost to waivers, and no one else likely to go down, looks like the Moose will only have 9 NHL contracts at forward on their team, should Brad Lambert be reassigned to the W. The AHL line of Polei-Maier-Jones have been good all year, so I guess there's enough confidence in the likes of Ty Boland and Greg Meireles as reserve players to justify such a move.

Any word from anyone of Jimmy Ogilny returning, thought he was supposed to be back around Christmas time?

Game nearing resumption. It will be the start of the 2nd period.

UPDATE: 7:58pm Still not resuming. Jumbotron still displaying “on hold” message. Refs briefly on ice, but no players have entered.

The Moose end their road trip with a 4-2 win over the Sens to improve to 18-12-2-1 on the season.

They return to Manitoba for six straight starting on Tuesday.

Missed this one on the free preview.

Have to give some credit to our poster from Newfoundland who said that Tyler Boland was too good for the ECHL. Nice snipe tonight, he's starting to move up the lineup for the Moose as he finds his stride.

Heinola and Lundmark look like they had a decent night as a pairing. Malott keeps on scoring. AHL has the Moose PP tracking at 27.27% on the road, which is impressive. Coach Morrison will have to be pleased when an undermanned (at forward at least) team can hold their opponent to 16 shots for the game.
