Well I haven't watched one game yet and I am sort of glad. The decades of mediocrity have taken their toll. I do watch the highlights and read everyone on this site but it's just too hard watching this organization suck year after year. I do enjoy reading you guys though.

The first one he couldn't decide whether to press the puck carrier or stay in the middle of the ice. He did neither.

You guys keep raving about this kid but the D-man that is our future #1 is Guhle. I would trade 5 Hutsons for 1 more Guhle. Hutson right now is a PP specialist and his defensive work leaves a lot to be desired.

Such a tiring narrative.

There were 5 Dmen that made more defensive blunders, and 0 that made as many offensive plays.

Calling him a "PP Specialist" is significantly downplaying his impact 5v5.

Edit: Okay 4 Dmen (Guhle)

I’m fine if he’s in the lineup. RHD. Decent skater. Good size. But someone needs to tell him to focus and not always f*** up with his stick. He absolutely needs to fix that. He’ll always be unpopular and hated if he doesn’t.
Hutson had the same issue tonight. Happens, I like that he (Barron) is being assertive though, he gets in trouble most when he's passive.

If y’all think that all of our D prospects will pan out as legit top 4, I got news for you. This core group is still in its infancy.
Too much turkey for the boys!

MSL (or Hughes more likely) will have to do something with the D. You can't have the vets play like this when the team is carrying 3 Ds with less than 100 NHL games played and the 4th one (who's the best D) haven't even hit 150 yet.
To me, that is more worrisome. Savard was responsible for 2-3 goals tonight. And he couldn’t make a play, as if he was hung over.

Interesting comments about Amazon Prime’s quality. I’ll have to give it a shot and experience it for myself. TV broadcast standards are 720p. Sportsnet, RDS etc…are 720p. Amazon normally use 1080p for it’s video streaming services so I’m wondering if today’s game was at 1080p.

That’s a big win for Prime if that’s the case.

We played very bad defense tonight. On the winning goal, two Pens forward are behind our defense. We constantly faced break away, two on one.

Both games we had to break up Savard Hutson ended up being shit shows defensively.
We have a huge problem because David Savard is just too slow to play with Hutson exactly as I predicted.
Barron and Xhekaj have to be third pairing guys and the balance is just horribly wrong when they aren't.

Not to dump on Dach who's coming back from a long injury but the bar was set high for him to replace Sean Monahan.

Monahan was providing secondary scoring all by himself playing with scrub during his whole tenure with us.

I'm sure Kirby will come along fine but he will have to figure out a way to produce with lesser quality teammates.
He needs to get a fraction faster. That would make him so much more effective

That I disagree with your take.

Again, I don't grade players based in if I like them or not.

Its cool that Xhekaj has a purpose, but he's terrible in his own zone and if find it odd the focus is always on Barron and a guy like Xhekaj whose been shit in every game, gets a pass because people think he's cool.
I saw Xhekaj make a few crisp tape to tape passes. I saw Barron try a D to D pass to Matheson in the 3rd period which went into Mike’s skates and out of the offensive zone.

Again, one has a purpose of being one of the league’s best enforcers. What is Barron’s role? It’s clearly to be a warm body and he’s barely good at that. I can deal with one weak bottom pairing guy, but having two is a recipe for disaster as we see now.

It looked so good that I thought it's 4K. Any sport broadcaster does 4K right now?

It happened ONCE and it was a miscommunication with his D partner and the forward (think it was Slaf).

He otherwise jumped in the rush when he had the opportunity, he was physical, completed all his clears (which is something he has historically struggled with).

People just don't like him for some reason.
I find he has been do good since last game and today but somehow people shit on him.
We cant be the only ones seeing this since there has to be a reason hes moved up in the lineup and Savard was moved down

Man, some here like you shit on Xhekaj, but he comes back from a secondshoulder surgery, miss a lot of times. It’s normal to look a bit rusty at the beginning. And he barely had any reps in preseason and we all know why.

Caufield shooted like a little girl last season and wasnt involved physically after the same shoulder surgery. Give him f***ing time. We are game 4. But knowing MSL he will bench him for Struble and that will mess him up even more confident wise.

Some forget that X is and will be a solid bottom pairing dman. Savard bring un down tonight with him.

Barren f***ed up so many simple plays, missing easy pucks to keep the pressure in the offensive zone, and many, MANY, giveaways in his own zone, not to mention dumb 0IQ passes to his defensive partner (oh and also, trying to cross-over THROUGH his defensive partner as well)
When all you're looking for are mistakes, it tends to be the only thing you notice.

I don't really care about a lot of the things you're referring too personally, players turn the puck over, they make bad passes, it happens.

But positionally, he was sound tonight and has been for the most part this season.

Although we lost we were still in it and scoring goals. Seems like the days of grinding to win a few but mostly losing in boring max 2-3 goal games is behind us, and for that I'm greatful.

Our young guns (apart from Dach whom desperately needs more help then Newhook on that 2nd line) are all flirting with a ppg even if it's early.

Guhle imo is playing like a young D a the cusp of becoming a teams 1D. He's been doing everything right for a while now and it's showing. Guhle still came out the only D with a +1. He covered Crosby to perfection tonight. Props to Xhekaj who had a good defensive game as well.

All in all were a young team progressing very nicely and as long as we still have an okay chance of making the playoffs by the TDL I'm happy with this season. Making the playoffs would be a major plus however... But so would another top10 pick.

Yeah the reason is these gaffes happen every game. He provides no offence for a guy that’s supposed to, and he’s not particularly good defensively. Looking forward to Struble coming back, at least he does things and isn’t physical once in a blue moon.
I bet you when Struble comes in, it wont be for Barron.

He’s moved up because the team is down and they need offence. He’s supposedly a decent puckmover, haven’t seen it myself.

If Xhekaj loses his position it won’t be because of Barron. Barron is fighting it out with Mailloux who did not look great at camp. We’ll see. (Responding also to your post Re Xhekaj).
