They've actually been fun to watch for the most part. Hutson is worth it. The team is young & have an immature game, but there's progress.

Caufield has also been great to start the season.

Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Hutson, Guhle, are leading this team already.

Heineman & Kapanen have been good on the 4th line.

Dach is struggling though.

-4 is bad. But our forwards don’t seem to have gotten the message that if Hutson is far in, they need to take his spot and cover streaking forwards. It will happen all the time in the future. They looked confused and befuddled looking at Pens forwards streaking up the ice without the second D back.
I have to agree with this. They have to learn how to play with Hutson when he went end to end.

I didn't see the game tonight, but lots of you are saying that Guhle and Hutson were the only good defensemen tonight.

Hutson was a -4 tonight... worst on the team, yet he was solid?

Elaborate?

I dont think he played particularly different today. He just didn't get the outcomes of the last few games.

He's always going to be a high event player on both sides.

The 1st and 3rd he screwed up. He wasn't the only one to screw up I'll give them that. I don't see this kid helping us win anything. His deficiencies on defense outweigh his pluses on offense. By a lot.

1st one was on Savard, who I don't know wtf he was doing on that whole play, on top of getting outskated by Eller. Third one (being the 5th goal) was partly on Hutson, who didn't get back, but 4 out of the 5 guys made terrible plays there. You're exaggerating regarding the "by a lot", he's a positive more times than not, easily.

And he would have been picked up.

Thankfully we have a GM who understands asset management and doesn't do things for “feels”.

Sorry dude but if Barron is leftie, he would be behind fn Engstrom on depth chart. Dime dozen players. He’ll survive here because we are thin on RD. He can thank god for his stick side.

Lane was fine overall, ghule was a beast on Crosby tho , Slaf was last man when Lane went on an adventure ,Slaf shouldn't have pinched.

Won't be the first guy to eat a -4 in a loss

Is he supposed to provide the offense, make up from forwards and his partner’s mistakes while being perfect himself 5 games into his career?
Why are you asking that? I answered a poster's question with a fact. He wasn't solid tonight.

It happens. He wasn't the only player who wasn't solid.

I thought Caufield and Slafkofsky did well otherwise, but those two and the center (I don’t remember that it was Suzuki) did a Pee Wee level job covering and picking up their man coming back on one of the goals. When Hutson is on the ice they’ll need to be more careful defensively.

But he ain't and he's not.

If Hutson was 5 inches taller and 40lbs heavier he’d be LH Makar

But he ain't.

We have a young D…whether it be Barron, Struble, Xhekaj, Hutson, Mailloux.

Mistakes are going to happen and we need to be patient and not always bury them and magnify every single mistake.

Or else its going to be a long year for some of you.

I can't find the info anywhere. If so that's a gamechanger.
I googled it and it said 4k but I think it may be misleading. Seems they are saying Amazon prime in general has 4k content and not that the hockey was in 4k, so maybe it isn’t. My mistake. It was definitely better quality than normal cable. I have 4k hockey streams and it looked just as good to me.

Not to dump on Dach who's coming back from a long injury but the bar was set high for him to replace Sean Monahan.

Monahan was providing secondary scoring all by himself playing with scrub during his whole tenure with us.

I'm sure Kirby will come along fine but he will have to figure out a way to produce with lesser quality teammates.

Barren was worse than Xhekaj, probably near on par with Savard.
It's no secret I like Xhekaj, we need a presence like that to keep other teams honest. The thing that frustrates me with Barron is that he's got all the tools but his IQ is very low. I mean there's got to be a reason why Colorado let him go, he was their 1st round pick.

C'mon now, that was his 6th NHL game. He still need some tweaking in his game like everyone else at that stage, it's not as dramatic as you make it to be.

I saw 1080 hockey stream before and this Prime video is much better. If it's also 1080 then the bit rate must be extremely high.

The first goal Savard fell but Hutson played it wrong. You either commit to pressing the puck carrier or stay in the middle of the ice. He did neither. He simply skated half-heartedly towards the puck carrier. Anyway, I don't want to be right about this kid's flaws but the more I watch him the more I don't see anyone that can help us.

I would trade him for another Guhle in a heart beat.

Slaf covered and couldn't do it and then another goal Caufield didn't even try and blew the coverage altogether.
The team has to make up it's mind how they are going to use Hutson.
He's not usually getting reps with our top line either 5v5 or on the PP.
When he does get the opportunity they just aren't on the same page.

The first one he couldn't decide whether to press the puck carrier or stay in the middle of the ice. He did neither.

You guys keep raving about this kid but the D-man that is our future #1 is Guhle. I would trade 5 Hutsons for 1 more Guhle. Hutson right now is a PP specialist and his defensive work leaves a lot to be desired.

You don't mention Savard though, he went on his knee, an idiotic play, to try to stop the pass, effectively putting the pressure on Hutson, who, if he missed his check on Puljujarvi, was giving away a 2 on 0. Eller should have been checked by Savard, who got outskating and outworked by Eller.

Slaf covered and couldn't do it and Caufield didn't even try and blew the coverage altogether.

Suzuki did his job, but Slafkovsky and Caufield were downright terrible on that play.
