Even though this may be true, Familia had left a really bad taste in my mouth prior to his leaving. Much to my surprise, we brought him back. Okay, he has a live arm and some really good movement. He has NOT been able to harness it, and any team facing him (that is smart) just lays off most/alk of his pitches as they usually are balls.
If he EVER, and I mean EVER can figure out how NOT TO walk as many as he does, he would be every bit as effective as Diaz.
Oh......wait......what?
So true, so true....the guys we get either (a) have great stuff and can't harness it or (b) can't pitch in NY.

Familia reminds me so much of Benitez it's sickening.....

Closers are like kickers. There's little consistency season over season. It's a risky investment and there's merit to entering the season with a closer by committee situation until one reliable arm emerges.

I would take having to look a Benitez face on the mound over Familia's, his grunting, his ineffectiveness, his stupid confused look when someone hits him or gets yet another walk. He just looks like his elevator only goes to the 5th floor when there are 12 floors to be had. Has to be a reason why he NEVER gets interviewed. I mean, has anyone ever seen one?
Yeah I know, I can google or you tube it. Lol.

This all could have been avoided if Mejia wasn't such an idiot.
And if Wagner didn't retire. Speaking of Wagner, he was another one that got himself in and more often than not, OUT of his own jams.

This is why I'm befuddled that Familia was brought back and especially at that price and years. Must be friends with someone higher up in the org. Jeez.

Whats he getting 10 mil? Take 20 guys off the street and pay them 500G's. At least 1 of the 20 might be better than paying that dodo head that kind of money.

Kapler's a joke. Take a little longer to make that change and then the reliever takes his sweet time to get in. Fortunately that clock on warm ups is there.

Pete coming up clutch. Need another 12 runs before Diaz comes in.

I don't know what you do with him anymore. I really don't. Normally you treat him like another reliever where season to season can change things but they cannot bring back both Familia and him and Familia is going nowhere unless they eat a ton of money. This guys confidence is shot and I'm not sure if they could even bring him back with the fanbase not going ballistic.

This Met team drives me f***ing nuts. I think they do this shit on purpose. I'm convinced that trolling their fans is part of the compensation packages for their players. Friggen ridiculous we have to go thru this shit all the damn time.

OK c'mon McNiel...end this sucker now!!

Bases loaded...2 outs and Alonso up after having blown a 2 run lead in the 9th inning.

Does it get much more Met like than that? lol

It just amazes me how much agida this team consistently gives me....all of us every single year. Nothing ever comes easy for this team as every game has to be a life and death struggle when it doesn't have to be.

That said, a pretty damn big win as tho Dbacks are winning, the Cubs are losing big to Brewers. Obviously a WC is a serious long shot at this point but at least this team continues to fight despite driving us nuts!!

This team is a clown fiesta. At least Frazier reached the 1,000 hit club.

Happy the Mets are a resilient team, wish they didn't have to do it so much.

Also, please play Davis the next two. Need his bat out there so we can score more than 2 runs in the first 7 innings. Lefty tomorrow so he should be in there in LF. His bat just makes such a difference.

Diaz needs to be relegated to 6th inning or earlier at this point

As one of his bigger supporters as his arm and talent is so tantalizing, I was convinced he was figuring things out and would be OK in high stress situations going forward the rest of the season. Now tho after these two latest implosions I throw up my hands and I think your right as I give up.

Its not readily apparent that this year is just not in the cards for Diaz. That said and maybe I'm in the minority here but I still remain steadfast in my belief that we should not be dealing him and we should work with him in the offseason and figure out what went wrong.

He's too talented and it's very possible this year was just a blip on the radar screen and would hate to sell him low to some other team where you just know that he's blow up and become an all-star again because that's just what the Mets do when they trade guys when they struggle with us.

In meantime tho with every game being so important, I'm with you, no more Diaz after the 6th inning.

Dammit....Reds loaded the bases in the bottom of 9th down 7-5 vs Dbacks but Bradley got out of it. Good for my fantasy team seeing I have Bradley...not good for our Mets.

On related note, didn't realize Marte has 31 homers this year....amazing. Suarez for the Reds has 42 himself....pretty dang impressive.

The other day Marte and Escobar became 1st pair of NL switch hitting teammates to hit 30+ HRs. Marte having MVP type season.

A win they had to have, lose with Diaz giving it up again? Àgain, would be like re-living all those other blown saves.
How many lives does this Mets team have? How can they continue to somewhat flourish, regardless of Diaz, Familia, Callaway shenanigans? They win despite of them.
Every reliever has their bumps.....but this is getting ridiculous.
Need at least 4 run leads, unless Lugo, Wilson and Avilan are available. Hell, I would even trust Avilan to close over Diaz. And Familia over Diaz at this point.
At least Familia keeps it in the park, while he is walking the park. A slow death in comparison to Diaz quick one.

On another note. 12-6 last 18 road games. 5 of 6 series wins, only loss was to Atlanta. Reason I bring this up is, we survive this tough homestand and go say 8-2 (please 9-1) a tall order, but that is what we backed ourselves into when getting swept by Braves/Cubs. Then we play Colorado and Cincy in those hitters parks. Our bats will likely be feeling good and we might be able to really do this.
I KNOW I am ahead of myself, but.......this team has so many lives, never quitting, Alonso leading the charge and many many contributions from unlikely sources. A shame the players we thought WOULD be solid, aren't.....or at least thus far.

Relevant Mets baseball in September, drawing us closer and closer to Rangers season. Makes it easier. Only 4 now behind Chicago and doing damage against Philly and Arizona puts them in our rear view, conceivably only 2 behind Chicago as the Brew  Crew could take last 2, while we win our next 2 through weekend.

Read that Diaz has one of the highest strike out and hard hit rates. Batters are basically whiffing on him or mashing taters. Weird season for him.
