Maybe it's payback for that Friday night at Citi when they came from 3 down, but it doesn't feel that way right now.

Beginning the road trip, anyone saying 4-2, they're happy. Last night doesn't make it feel that way. The two losses were excruciating losses.
You know, when push comes to shove, 4-2 is good. Really good, but damn.....5-1 and even a 6-0 wasnt that far away.
This is why we are so "dis-allusioned" by last nights catastrophe.

This journey continues. With a PO appearance.....or not. I am still "very proud" of my life long team. Very proud.

Back home now.......what are we in for now?

P.S. anyone else KNOW that Lagares shot was gonna be gone? I knew......he has power......just really is some kind of inigma. Still waiting for him to put it together. For a while earlier he did. He doesnt get his bunt hits, he hits many infield line drives and hits liners to the outfield. Bad average, bad everything. No luck. Even Keith roots for him and knows what I feel. Wish him better.

Imagine not trading for Diaz or signing Familia, and simply allowing Lugo to assume the closer role, while showing faith in McNeil from the getgo so you don’t anchor yourself to Cano’s contract?

Dodgers dont wanna play the Nats? Yeah, I agree. Same could be said for the Mets. We just "have to be in it......to win it". What a shame if we don't. Cespedes would have mad "all of this" quite the different scenario. That is my take. That is what we paid him for. And, he is sitting......resting, training, working out, playing golf, watching T.V., getting laid.....but NOT on the field.

4-2 looks good but at this stage in the game its not enough and the Mets have barely moved since before these two series wins.

Familia should be released at this point

I'm keeping the faith at least until the end of the Phillies series.

Every team loses in their own way. Blown leads suck but the Mets were really sunk by that six game losing streak. I'll keep tuning in but it's hard to fathom how they'll jump four teams that are also desperate to win games.

I mean 4-2 would have been acceptable but they needed to go 5-1 or 6-0 to have a chance. It’s unfortunate but that’s the reality of things when you dig a 5 game hole and you’re suddenly competing with 3 other teams again too. 4-2 is good but doesn’t make up ground especially when the team you’re chasing has a relatively easy schedule.

Exactly. This Philly series coming up is big, but the Arizona one is even bigger. You want to see an easy schedule? Take a peek at what they got left. Mets series on the road might be the toughest they got. Cardinals are the other, but at least it's a home series.

Call me crazy, but I'm expecting Arizona to go on a run no matter the results of the Mets series and have the 2nd best shot of catching the Cubs.

People have been saying that for a bit about Arizona and I can see it for sure.

If the Mets were to have a legitimate chance, they'd have to go at the very least 7-3 and more likely 8-2 on this current home stand. And that's facing the Phillies, DBacks, and Dodgers.

Like any Mets fan who sees even the slightest hope, I'll continue watching and rooting for them to win while praying for the miracle but realistically they're toast.

I think I'm still recovering from last night's devastating gut punch as it's been on my mind all day. Certainly hasn't helped that all day at work, most of my Phillie fan friends down here and Yankee fans who I know have been blowing up my cell phone with enough chirping about last night's choke and gag job to last a full year.

But yeah what else can we do? I never ever give up on the team so long as their is a chance but let's be honest...the fat lady tho she hasn't cleared her throat and started singing yet, she has definitely entered the building and last night the f***ing Nationals paid for her limo ride to our funeral.

And than I say to myself well, "if" we beat the Phillies, Dbacks and Dodgers all 2-3, we'd than be 6 games over .500 and if the Cubs can lose a few...we'd only be a few back. Probably too many "if's" but at least August and September has been a wild and often times exhilarating fun ride albeit with a couple of epic fails.

All of this has made this playoff run one of the more memorable runs in Met history and one I'll soon not ever forget. We just have to keep living for another day and keep the fat lady locked in her damn dressing room for as long as possible.

Go Mets and Jets.

Well, not that I am that concerned about the Phillies......just tuned in though, looking for a loss. Much to my surprise, 5 zip Cincy with Bauer. Okay, 5 minutes later it is 5-4. Following much of the talk about "superstitions" on You Tube especially with interview with Scherzer.......now, I will have to "tune out". Apparently, I am a jinx for the Mets.

With all this negativity (albeit the truth) it is up to Wheeler to give us a strong 7.

Wilson the 8th
Lugo the 9th. Make it happen.

Ummmm, kind of close. Have absolutely NO PROBLEM with Wilson closing it up. Trust him a helluva lot more than Familia or Diaz. That has to change though.

Callaway finally spoke about his boys having to "buck up". Finally. Put up or shut up. Home for 9. You want to have a shot at WC? Sweep at least 1, and win 2 of 3 in other 2. 7 and 2 homestand or better. Nothing else matters. Or, will matter if they don't.

This is honestly the first year Familia has been bad. Every season before this he's had a sub 3 era or close to it.

Can't give up on that type of arm. It might sound weird, but a huge chunk of this bullpen will be back next year and based on how bullpens work, it can work. It's just how volatile the job is.

What I hope they do is build up some real depth there. The arms coming up from the minors aren't the guys other teams have shuttling between AAA and the majors.

Mets are done. Last night was the final nail in the coffin.

If the Mets have any real hopes of pulling off the ultimate miracle........they "have to" beat the teams ahead of them in WC race, (brutally would be a plus) and then send a message to the Dodgers that "just because you rampaged through the season like you did, eventually you will have to go through Citifield."
We have some good pitching over here as well. Thats my story, and I am going to stick by it!

Even though this may be true, Familia had left a really bad taste in my mouth prior to his leaving. Much to my surprise, we brought him back. Okay, he has a live arm and some really good movement. He has NOT been able to harness it, and any team facing him (that is smart) just lays off most/alk of his pitches as they usually are balls.
If he EVER, and I mean EVER can figure out how NOT TO walk as many as he does, he would be every bit as effective as Diaz.
Oh......wait......what?
