Yes. Zeile mentioned this in the post-game show. Hitters are sitting on his fastball because they're not being fooled by his slider. Simple physics. The harder it's thrown, the farther it goes upon good contact.
 
Big blow to the Cubs:



Russell probably shifts to SS, but losing an MVP caliber player is a huge loss. Odds aren't in favor still, but you have to think this opens the door for the collection of teams 4 back to catch the Cubs
 
Stroman throws 30 pitches in first inning as he gives up a HR to first batter of the game. He gives up 3 more hits tho one of them should have been caught by Frazier. The bases are loaded with no outs and yet Phillies don't score another run.

Either Stroman is really Houdini in disguise or the Phillies really do stink? Hmmm....I'll go with the latter. Phillies are serious choke artists and have been forever. You guys think Calloway makes head scratching decisions? He can't hold a candle to Gabe Kapler. I live down here....he's horrible and has cost Phillies at least 15 games this year with stupid decisions.
 
That was a great catch dammit.

Stroman gets out of another jam. We need to capitilize on Smiley. He's very rockable. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either to get Phillie pen involved sooner than later as their pen is worse than ours.
 
Jesus Mary and Joseph...what's going on with the Mets defense tonight.

Frazier dropped a pop up albeit it was an over the shoulder one and now JD drops an easy pop fly to left field.

So far we are down just 1-0 but it sure feels like we should be down by 3 or 4.

Not liking the vibes in this one...too many mental mistakes that you can't make at this time of year.

Looks like as expected the flood gates have opened up. You can't give teams extra outs especially at this time of year.

I dunno man...5 runs down and tho plenty of time left in the game, our pen is going to be coming in and we all know how that's going to be. Hey I'd love to be wrong but Mets don't seem into this one which is a bit of surprise.

Lol I'm streaming, so it was 3 runs down for me. Now 5
 
And lets be honest, Stromen has not been as good as advertised since we got him from the Blue Jays.

He has his moments and does show signs of being a solid SP but he has too many brain farts, his pitches are quite hittable and he walks too many guys. He also seems to always have one inning per outing where he just loses it and gets crushed.

That said, I'd still want him to be in our rotation next year as a #4/#5 but any thoughts of him possibly being a #3 type SP with us maybe moving ahead of Matz or Wheeler, I just don't see it happening.
 
They need to start making a dent in the 5 run deficit
 
Left handed pitching is an issue for this squad, even not so great ones. Ramos sitting did not help. Bottom of the order are nearly auto outs. Frazier, Lagares, Nido. I'd be tempted to play Nimmo, possibly Cano vs lefties if this is what you're going to get.

You go into the 8th with the option to use some of these lefty bats. Otherwise it's onto tomorrow to try and win the series. Can't really lose too many more though.
 
How do you let someone tag from 2nd to 3rd on a flyout to left
