i'm going to pretend that I have any clue what wRC+ means and like this

Could say .801 OPS last year and .808 the year before if you prefer. It's not as good of a stat but tells the same story. He's performed 20% above league average for over 300 games now.

One thing I noticed last night being there and moving down the 3rd base line, going into the bottom of the 8th the head member of the grounds crew walked out to the crew chief with his tablet trying to tell him that it was going to start to rain again and the umpires basically said they would play through it.

As we know, they called it right after that, but that bottom of the inning never should have begun. Thankfully nobody was hurt when it was pouring and they got the win.

is this possible?

Maybe not many remember, nor ever knew......he actually used to be a starter when in the Mets farm system.
I have a theory.......the MORE Familia pitches, the better he will be. His sinker sinks better when a little gassed. (Like many other sinkerballers) His speed and other pitches (cutter, right?) aren't bad either. His MAIN ISSUE has always been controlling the strike zone. Way too many walks. Remember when he would come in the 9th, walk the 1st two batters, than strikeout the side? In and out of trouble. Happened too often.

You have to believe that Regan and Callaway consider Familia every bit as important as Diaz (well almost). Our GM re-acquired him as a back-up plan to Diaz (if injured). If Familia ever gets right again, (and getting close) he easily is our best (if not 2nd best) option to close, along side Lugo. One might say Familia is actually more experienced in that regard than Lugo.

I can't really believe that this staff has gotten better simultaneously upon Regan's promotion (so to speak). It's no coincidence.

I fully expect they’ll lose 2 of 3 this weekend then go right back to winning. The Braves simply have their number the last 2 years
No better time, nor better opportunity for the "worm to be turning". We are hot and Atlanta is somewhat injured. They have been winning regardless of that......but now they will be playing a "real team, a really good team". The Braves are really good, I will concede that, but they are by far NOT God's gift to MLB. They can be had, and were very fortunate to have taken 2 of 3 in Atlanta last time.

I will take my chances with the deGrominator, Wheels and Matzy vs whomever they choose to pitch. At Citifield where we have been lights out winning 12 of last 13? Looking at a Mets sweeping, starting with a Jacob masterpiece.

Have a feeling he still feels shitty about breaking that winning streak and blowing the sweep vs the Nats, time to make up for that tonight.

Oh yeah......and we think Alonso has been awesome thus far with his 40? I will bet anything he hits 4 in these 3 games. What will Vegas give me for that? Will surpass Todd and Beltran at 41, then a head of steam towards 50 and then will break Judge's rookie record of 52, when he hits his 53rd.

So......4 brings him to 44.
2 vs Cubbies.......46
2 vs Phillies in that bandbox.....48
1 vs Nationals......49
1 vs Phillies at home on Sept. 8.......#50
3 vs Diamondbacks with his 53rd, on my birthday Sept. 12.
13 homers in 19 games.......now we're talking!

That will give him 16 games afterwards, to add whatever amount he wants to add to his record. Amazing, simply amazing!

But they wanted Rosie to have a chance to get a hit. He was 0-4 prior and an uncharacteristic bad night at the plate.....these past 2 months now anyway.

frazier is the weakest guy in the lineup right now. let him be clutch once a week off the bench.

mets this year are .524 overall....500 with frazier out of the lineup, .529 with him in the lineup and thats mostly with mcneil in the lineup

.636 record with panik in the lineup and a number of games without mcneil

giphy.gif
The small ball and what I like to call "winning ball". Panik is head over heels better than Frazier. Even if defense is equivalent, we have enough power in the lineup. Frazier doesnt consistently do enough of the things to help a team get a runner over or NOT into a DP, or KO when you need a little fly ball. Enough already. For now Panik, then get them both out of the line-up.
If the team is struggling offensively, then insert Frazier hoping for lightning in a bottle.....which he can provide when his job is on the line. Don't hate him, just not pro-Toddfather, despite me being Italian and liking his at bat song.

Panik is about to take playing time from Frazier. Probably for the best. Could use another LH bat in the lineup and Frazier has been really bad since the ASB.

It's funny, I find myself in the uncomfortable position of defending Frazier despite the poor post all star #'s because I like Panik and was all for Brodie bringing him here. I really don't have stats to back me up other than the fact I'd rather McNeil go back to 2B where he was after Cano got hurt and before he got hurt, keep Frazier at 3B and let's not fix something that's not broke. And tho Frazier hasn't gotten alot of hits, seemingly the one's he does get and the homers he does hit seem to come at very opportune times.

That said, I'd rather have Lowrie in the lineup over both Frazier and Panik but we won't know if that's going to happen for sure until another week from now.

No matter what way the Mets go here, it's a good problem to have. The best part of it is that the Mets bench is about to get a hell of alot better and tho I'm appreciative for the slight contributions of Guilorme, it's time for him, Tejada, RDavis to back to Syracuse and do their thing there and let Nimmo, Dom Smith, Lowri, Panik, Frazier become the new bench.

The best thing about Gleyber beating up the Orioles is...who cares?

If you can't bully the heck out of a division team that is weak af, then what are you doing?

This is why it's funny when Sox fans try to discredit Torres, while turning a blind eye to Devers bullying the Blue Jays.

Slightly important baseball game tonight. Trying to finesse the wife into letting me watch it.

This season really truly has ended up becoming, at least for me it has, a hybrid of both the out of the blue 1973 Met run to the playoffs and ultimately WS and the out of the blue 2015 Met run to the playoffs and ultimately WS

Every single game was the most important game of the season those two years and now this season is quickly shaping into the same deal.

Slowly but surely the shock is wearing off for me that we are where we are at after the shit show that was the first 3 months of the season and hoping we can win and keep this up.

I'm to the point now where I'm convinced now that this is no fluke and I expect us to win. And that includes tonight with deGrom on the mound vs Folty of the Braves which is a HUGE advantage for us.

Mets need to figure out a way to put 3 runs on the board and we should be fine. Folty has talent but is shaky and he gets wild at times and walks alot of guys. Mets need to stay patient and Folty will help us out.

What is this white uniform, black cap stuff? I'm not gonna say I hate it, but I am confused by it.

Both teams look like they are wearing pajamas.

FYI for those of y'all like me who keep track of this shit, Fangraphs has us currently barely squeaking in as the 2nd WC.

Note that on July 23rd, we were at 3.1%

Braves..........99.8%
Nationals.....93.1
Mets.............51.6
Phillies.........11.1

Cubs............75.9
Cards...........50.9
Brewers...... 13.0
Reds..............1.3

Dodgers.....100,0%
DBacks.........2.8
San Fran.......1.3

These uniforms are rough.

They are pretty hideous. Kind of reminds me when the NFL did that Color Rush BS on Thursday night games when both teams wore the ugliest uniforms one can ever come up with. I think the league thankfully did away with for most part but I'll never forget the Bills and Jets one night 3 years ago...Jets were wearing all green obviously and the Bills wore this horrendous shade of red and it was just the worst thing you've ever seen.

Now these Met and Brave uniforms tonight aren't as ugly as those Color Rush NFL ones but these are some pretty ugly ass unies which hopefully will never see the light of day again....hah

Jake has 4 more Braves muttering to themselves....that's 7 k's in a row. He looks awesome tonight.

Anyone know the MLB record? I recall Seaver had 9 in a row as a Met but gotta think that record has been broken...no?
