I know my memory is bad, but yet indeed I do remember him. So, he signs this huge Mets contract, swears he loves our team and lo and behold he has played.......what 40-50 games since? I am guessing here.
In the words of the immortal John Lennon; "Imagine". Imagine there is a Cespy, I wonder if you can........no grass below him, nothing but concrete.........
Cespedes played 159 games in 2015, 57 with the Mets and in 2016 he played 132 games. Stanton in his 1st 2 full seasons with the Yanks played 167 games. Cespdes played 81 games in 2017.

What are the odds on Stanton playing more than half the season next year?

Not to mention, but they could have gotten ANYONE to do games other than Apple and it would have been better. They could have gone the route to ensure Darling and Hernandez did the games, similar to national NBA broadcasts being players only teams. You'd understand at that point, plus we hear them all the time.

Hell, I'm sure Steve Gelbs would have done better.

With all that being said, last night was exhibit A for why this team turned it around. The bullpen was great. 1 run over 6 innings. Battling back against a struggling closer. Hand was looking like Doolittle out there. Rosario and Davis have sparked this offense and were the guys last night. Panik is hot and possibly just needed a change of scenery. Could use another 6 weeks of this play, just because you don't know with Lowrie, Nimmo, and Cano.

Last night's RBIs came from: Davis, Conforto, Lagares and Gillourme. These lesser parts, the guys who have been cast off, are coming through. That's how you know things are going your way.

Brewers are off tonight. Could be 1 game back heading into the weekend. Thor is going to have to be on tonight. Everyone but Diaz and Sewald used last night. Have to wonder if Avilan and Wilson are available. Lugo is not going to be. Back end of the pen tonight is Diaz, Familia, Sewald and Brach. A Thor 8/9 inning gem is going to be needed.

Weather conditions could be a factor tonight with rain coming in between 830-1030. That could really muck up the Mets pitching situation if it causes an early exit for Thor due to a delay. Have to think Brach/Wilson aren’t available tonight. This is a game that if you’re Calloway you consider writing off mid way through if things aren’t playing out well in your favor. You want to take 2 of 3 this weekend so you have to be cautious about destroying your bullpen tonight, losing and then being in a bad spot tomorrow and Saturday

Brach/Wilson aren’t available tonight

Brach has only pitched once this series. He should be fine. Avilan/Wilson might be only good for a batter after back to back nights. Short pen though and I agree they should be cautious with the pen tonight and make sure it is ready to go for the weekend (even though I'll be at the game).

McNeil starting a rehab assignment tonight in AAA. Have to think with that and the Tejada DFA that he is going to come back by the end of the Braves series or the start of the Cubs series. Flexin gets the demotion as soon as McNeil is ready.

I'm also pretty sure that Tejada will clear waivers and go back to AAA and on the roster sometime in September.

I know I should be happy the goal was accomplished which was to win the series but how many times do you get a chance to break out the brooms on a solid ball club like the Indians? Try never...at least for the Mets over the years it hasn't.

Screw it..."greed is good" I believe someone once said in a famous movie from the early 90's.

Break out the brooms I say and send these Indians back to Cleveland and go hang out with Baker and Odell...fun fun fun.

btw mets should play mcneil at 3b during his rehab starts...keep panik in the lineup since he is better than frazier

Team is playing .700 ball with Frazier at 3B and Mcneil everywhere and anywhere else.

I think Frazier has done enough with the bat and has been clutch enough while providing a solid glove, to keep himself in the lineup. He also adds a little panache to the team when he's in the lineup.

On other hand, Panik is doing exactly what I predicted he'd do despite some in here saying it was a stupid move of Brodie's to bring in a stiff like him. He's come up with a couple of clutch hits and he's given us a solid glove at 2B.

Panik is what he is....a punch and judy hitter who would be a great guy for the bench. You give him a start or two per week and you keep things as is. You know the old adage...why fix something that ain't broke?....

Who said Alonzo couldn't field? C'mon fess up...lol

Both he and R0sario as I said last night both have looked a thousand times better in the field the past few months. Not sure how or why this has occurred with the two of them but it's very noticeable and it's one of the unsung reasons this team has gone on this roll of theirs.

frazier is the weakest guy in the lineup right now. let him be clutch once a week off the bench.

mets this year are .524 overall....500 with frazier out of the lineup, .529 with him in the lineup and thats mostly with mcneil in the lineup

.636 record with panik in the lineup and a number of games without mcneil

Frazier has some intangibles that I like as well when he's on the field. Listen, I'm not going to lose sleep over this and I was on of the biggest supporters and proponents of Brodie bringing Panik over here seeing maybe he's catch some lightning in the bottle and he's done just fine and has held the fort over at 2B.

I don't think Frazier is such a weak link that he needs to be benched...sorry just not going there. He's had quite a few clutch hits and homers over the past month or so and has played a great 3b and I'll say it again...I'm a big believer in not fixing something that aint broke. So we'll have to agree to disagree here...

Frazier has been kinda bad for like 2 months now lol.

He had a really hot June but has been mostly bad for every other part of the season.

I know the numbers for Frazier...trust me as I own him in my $$ league. What I will say is that for a guy who's batting around .200 the past two months, he's been the clutchest .200 hitter in the league by far. Off top of my head, of his 30 or so hits the past few months, at least 20 of them have been huge.

Listen, as I said I'm not going to lose sleep if Mickey decides to bench his ass but I can see why he would keep him in the lineup when compared to a Panik tho. Now if Lowrie comes back and he's healthy and hitting, well that's a whole new ballgame because Lowrie can rake when he gets going.

Panik is what he is...a slap hitter. I'd rather have a power guy who can field like Frazier or a guy who can rake like a Lowrie and won't hurt you at 3B vs a slap hitter who can field like Panik. But hey's that's me and I can respect others think differently.

Panik is not better than Frazier.

Finally the cavalry comes...hah

I was starting to wonder if I was on some deserted island and that an alternative universe where Joe Panik was somehow better than a Todd Frazier either real life, fantasywise or otherwise...lol

Panic is better than Joe McEwing though.

They've played enough innings tonight to make it official, no?

Oh no Jope Aneck is someone I would take out too, my friend . God bless his soul for hitting solid as a Met tho.

So we are on same page afterall....go figure...lol.

Forget Panik replacing Frazier in the lineup, there is one guy I would take Frazier out of the lineup for tho and that would be Jed Lowrie...you remember him? lol

I owned Lowrie last year on my fantasy team and he was friggen en fuego. I admit I never thought he was going to be as good as he ended up being as I got him very late in my draft.

I also admit tho that when Brodie signed him, I was very excited about this pickup seeing Lowrie last year was basically Jeff McNeil before Jeff McNeil figured out how good he was this year. And if he can make it back to the ball club in early September...yes fingers are crossed, he can be that extra ingredient we need cause let's be honest, unlike Panik, Lowrie is a better hitter than the Todfather.

And so if it's me and Lowrie shows he's healthy when get back and show's he can rake, he and not Frazier starts at 3B as he would make our lineup that much more dangerous....just sayin.
