If the Mets can keep it within 2 games for a few weeks till guys get healthy I like their chances.

But there's only so long you can hold out when you have 2-3 spots in the lineup that are automatic outs.

Ironic but it just so happens that I have three Indians starting pitchers on my longtime 20 owner(not a misprint as our league is incredibly deep...28 rounds...560 players get drafted) $$ league fantasy team. I also am a Roberto Perez owner so I'm pretty heavily invested in the Indians needless to say.

I'm a bigtime Clevinger fan and so grabbed him to be my #1 SP. After I took David Price to be my #2, Shane "Not Justin" Bieber was the guy I was targeting to be my #3 SP as I loved his control and how he ended last year. He's been phenomenal this season...Cy Young vote type good.

And I happened to have picked up on waivers that rookie who has been doing very well Aaron Civale. Bottom line is Mets are going to have a tough ass time with this staff and if we win 2 of 3, we should be thrilled. I think we have a better chance believe it or not vs the Braves and Cubs to win those series as their pitching staffs are much more vulnerable.

I mean shit, Indians pitching is so deep, they could afford to deal a studly Trevor Bauer even with Carassco and Kluber out for most of the year....that's plain nuts.

So yeah, that is one deep ass staff that they got in Cleveland and forget us as we thankfully only play them 3 times but I know if I was a heavily favored Yankees or Astros team, the Indians would the absolute last team I'd want to play against in the AL Division round as they could quite possibly pull off an upset over any of them as they can also hit a bit too with studs like Ramirez, Lindor...etc...lol

I'm in total agreement and have been suggesting something similar in some of my postings the past few weeks. That's one of the reason I'm keeping close track of Mets record since the Nats series seeing that was the official end of our "easy schedule" and this tough ass 47 game stretch was about to commence.

So like you, I felt that so long as we hung around the 4-5 games over the .500 mark until mid-September when the schedule eases up finally, we would be right in the thick of it and likely a solid last two weeks of season would do the trick. Well right now we are 4 games over .500 and 5-4 since the schedule turned ugly....not too shabby actually.

I feel like if you have to ask Dr. Andrews its always Tommy John.

Not even a question about it...Andrews is the grim reaper of MLB...hah.

Pity the pitcher who feels even the slightest twinge in his arm and after the MRI, an appointment is than made to go visit the good doctor down at his Alabama office.

You can pretty much take it to the bank, your season is over, your likely going under the knife and hopefully a year or two later you can get back to some semblance of the old you.

But yeah no question, a visit to Andrews never has a happy ending.

You don’t go to him unless you basically know. The ‘second opinion’ is really just the guy who is gonna do the surgery confirming what the other docs said

Yeah and Howie’s daughter got married so he was off too. I was surprised the bosses didn’t tell Gary he couldn’t have the same week but it’s possible he had a personal commitment as well. After 30 years both guys are probably gonna get whatever they want. I wouldn’t expect Gary Apple to fill in for Cohen ever again. They’ll likely move Howie over or give Gelbs a shot at it next year. Either Joe Beningo or Evan Roberts said Apple had been begging the execs for years now to give him a chance at PBP but it sure didn’t work out too well

Wow and I was kind of feeling bad for Apple, thinking that maybe he didnt want to do play by play but was being a good employee to cover for a coworker because that's what his bosses wanted him to do.

Also th he SNY producer needs to stop with these boring guests in the booth that they ignore the game for just to talk for ten minutes about how a guy was a batboy 40 years ago. No one cares.

Ex-Mets Octavio Dotel and Luis Castillo were both reportedly arrested on drug trafficking charges in their native Dominican Republic.

The two former Amazin’s standouts have also been linked to a money laundering network, according to DR attorney general Jean Rodriguez. They were taken down in a sting that’s being billed as the “largest operation against organized crime” in the history of the Dominican Republic.

Outside of Gsellman being done (pretty much), all the injury news is positive. Lowrie and Cano doing anything at this point is progress. At least two weeks away for Lowrie and I think mid September for Cano. Nimmo in AAA should be back sooner than later. Maybe this weekend is possible.

Picking up Brach now looks like a shrewd move. He has the pedigree for late innings. Familia actually pitching well could mitigate this as well. Could see this going forward:

Long man: Sewald
7th: Familia/Avilan
8th: Brach/Wilson
9th: Lugo/Diaz

Lugo gets some 8th and 9th inning work and Brach can pitch in some blowout type games too. If Diaz can just be 75% of what he was last season this pen would be one of the better ones in the league.

Agreed, at first I wasn't a huge fan of it but it was more because I was burned by him fantasy wise thru his consistent implosions rather than from a talent standpoint which has always been there.

Another key move was the Panik pickup. I know a few in here scoffed at it but I once owned this guy 3 years ago when he was relevant and sometimes when guys get traded, they all of a sudden catch lightning in the bottle. And that is what I was thinking would happen...so far so good as Panik has been just what the doctor ordered.

Tonight's going to be tough. Once again and for those who don't follow players outside of the main ones or in the AL, I own Bieber in my fantasy league. He's been filthy good this season. He is going to get some Cy Young votes...that's how good he is. He doesn't walk many peeps and so if we are going to get to him, we need to do it early before he gets in a groove.

I hope I'm wrong about Bieber but I got a feeling there won't be many runs to be had tonight. Hopefully Matz is on his game...we'll see soon enough.

Very much looking forward to this one as this will be a true test for the Mets to beat this scorching hot Indian club. We are at home tho and that could prove to be the difference...here's to hoping.

Lowrie DHing tonight...new injury coming in a few hours

Stop...Lowrie's due for some good luck finally. We got to send him so good positive juju. Anyways, this would be a real nice boost for Mets if we can get these two back for the September stretch run.
