Rosario really looks like he has taken the next step in his development in the box. It was a rough start in the field, getting better though.

Next, start adding that speed element to the top of the order. He should be able to get 30 steals a season.

f***ing Acuna is insane...what an amazing play robbing JD of a HR.

I'll say it again and please let's not start the whole Bonds/Griffey debate again but Acuna is this generations Griffey Junior...he simply can do it all.

Don't look now but the typically zero at the plate Lagares has another 3 hits which makes him 8 for his last 12.

Sure they are pretty empty AB's but shit...I'll take it seeing anything Lagares can do that is positive at the plate is huge for this team while McNeil is out considering his solid defense...hmmm

I am not sure Rosario will ever be a top of the order hitter. He does not walk at all. Hasn't in either of his three major league years and didn't in the minors. Going to be real hard for him to ever put up a good OBP that way. He would basically have to be a .300+ hitter. Which is kind of what McNeil does however McNeil walks a little bit more and sneaky adds to his OBP by getting hit by a ton of pitches. Now that he's starting to show some power and ability to hit the ball I can see him being a nice 6/7 hitter which is where speed is more important anyway.

And Rosario with a 4 hit night as well. Love it. He really has improved quite a bit this year. Clutch performance by Mets tonight. They brought out the lumber bigtime tonight and we can now head into KC with our heads high and hopefully we can pull off the sweep...at worst win 2 of 3.

I would gladly take Rosario being a #6 hitter long term. Could be a nice run producer in that spot. McNeil as a #2 hitter would be great, but there is a shortage of true leadoff guys with the speed/obp. Having this as a foundation for a lineup next season:

McNeil
xxxx
Alonso
xxxx
Davis
Rosario
xxxx
xxxx
Pitcher

Davis needs to be an everyday player next season. Like Conforto in either the 2 or 4 hole. Cano is going to play. Maybe Lowrie is alive next season and slides into the 7 hole. Who knows what Cespedes can provide, so I'm not sliding him into that cleanup spot just yet. Nimmo and Smith go somewhere on the bench, maybe some CF reps for Nimmo. Ramos gets in there somewhere.

After posting this, my goodness this team is so hurt and if healthy, this team pushes for the NL East next season.

You know things are going good for Mets when I'm actually a tad dissapointed that Rosario despite 5 hits, missed out hitting for the cycle.

I'll take more disappointments like this gladly...lol

Rosie getting close to .300 which is crazy where he has been this season.

@SA16 one guy who had these kind of walk rates was Reyes and even he got to 10% in his prime. It can be obtained, hoping he can get to that point.

Wouldn't be any other way than to have this game get relatively close. Would hate to see someone get up at this point.

Acuna is going to be an issue for the next decade

And now you see why I thought we needed 10 runs or more to win this sucker...un f***ing believable that this is now we need a closer to put this fire out...ridiculous

PHEEWWWWWWWWWWWW....and a big sigh of relief. Mets win huge game and I can still watch baseball again.

That was way to close for comfort. Never should have been that way...oh well...we move on to KC...

Trout is this generations Griffey jr.Hell, hes probably better then Griffey jr ever was.

Just a matter of time until Diaz blows one and it crushes us

Guy comes into that game and walks a guy on 4 pitches. Unreal

True that but he did strike the next guy to end the game sending the Mets to KC with a huge W. Seems to be the way his MO is this year for some bizarre reason seeing last year he was as lights out as any closer in the last 10-15 years.

One thing that does give me a little hope for Diaz is the fact I am old enough to remember that in 1973 during that amazing "Ya Gotta Believe" Met run to the division title and the World Series, Tug McGraw was even worse than Diaz has been...he really was just horrible. I know most of y'all are too young to remember McGraw or that '73 season but trust me, it was as amazing turnaround as you'd ever want to see for both McGraw and the team that season.

But out of the blue...out of nowhere tho, McGraw found his game when it really counted the last 5-6 weeks of that season as well as the post season, was as unhittable as any Met reliever has ever been to this day and he was as big of a reason as any why the Mets made such an incredible comeback as they were left for dead in last place on the last day of August that year.

Point being it's not impossible that Diaz can channel Tug McGraw and somehow become the Diaz we thought we were getting from Seattle. Nothing else we can do other than hope that's the case. Meantime, at least we have Lugo who other than the other nite has been the best reliever in baseball for the past month and so we should be fine in the pen going fwd. Heck even Familia has been solid as of late.

Keep the faith my friend...keep the faith...:)

9 runs...17 hits in just 5 innings. Even if Atlanta scores a few more, we have a few more in us as well versus that sieve of a pen they got in Atlanta.

I think you can relax a bit...lol
I can relax now? Lol
