Barry vs The Kid would be like comparing The Great One to Peter Forsberg. Two greats but one much more so.

Bonds never failed a test. Bonds never got suspended for these things. He was absolutely using them but the MLB didn't care. They made a bazillion dollars off of it but then also got to be their own sheriff later. These steroid guys 'saved' baseball after the '94 strike until baseball decided they didn't like steroids anymore so now many of these surefire legends aren't hall of famers but Bud Selig gets to be even though he knew what was going on.

The sport has over 100 years of cheating and diluted competitive fields in its history but then it was decided that steroids were the only invalidating factor.

He actually tested positive multiple times. But no one got suspended for it back in the day.

More or less the main gist of my point.

Imma move on from this though and stop derailing the thread like the clown that I am. I'll stick to bitching about the Mets

Only reason I can been remotely support Callaway’s decision is Matz gave up 3 very hard hit outs in the 6th. I still do not like going to a reliever in the 7th though with the intention of using him for two innings because what if he throws 30 pitches to get out of the 7th? You then have to go to someone else for the 8th anyway

Matz at 79 pitches and he hit in the top half of the inning and you pull him. Not a good look. You have to at least let him start the inning.

Another case of managers overthinking. Your guy is on a roll, let him screw up and then go to "the best reliever in baseball". Mickey just doesn't seem cut for manager. Hell of a pitching coach, terrible manager.

So is Lugo not the closer anymore? What is the situation there?

Trying to decide if I should hold onto him or drop him for Melancon. Lugo has put up much better numbers this year but its also that time of the year where every decision counts with add/drops and now Melancon is the closer for Atlanta. At least for now.

Bringing in Lugo is pretty obviously the right decision there.

Letting Matz hit is also pretty obviously the wrong decision.

But I also don't think his logic is inconsistent at all. He was fine letting Matz remain in the game while they were still losing but once they unexpectedly took the lead he wanted to bring in his best guy. And Lugo, one time through the order, coming in to start against two righties has a far better chance than Matz does against them his third time through.

The annoying thing about the Braves is players like Acuna, Albies, and Freeman are the double whammy of amazing and likeable. I don't appreciate that they're interfering with me hating the Braves.

Talk to my daughter for five minutes.

She HATES Freddie Freeman. I don't know why, but she despises that guy.

I guess nobody talks about the Yankees here anymore?

not in a one-run game with the heart of the order coming up the 3rd time around.

pitch count is irrelevant unless you're talking injury/fatigue prevention.

how the hell can u hate that guy

Like I said, I don't know, other than he's a Brave and the team is becoming dangerous.

Maybe it has something to do with us going down to Atlanta a few times to see the Braves play the Cubs (my wife's team) and the reception he got compared to the other Braves players.

I really don't like Christian Yelich and it has to do with him killing the Cubs more than anything else.

He kills the Mets. Every time, he kills them. He took over for Chipper in that regard. Hated him too, but he was a fantastic player.

Matz is either off or not, and not too much in-between. He was dealing and never should have been pulled. The compounding issue is that they went to Lugo there. If he wanted 2 out of Lugo, that only accounts for the 7th and 8th. Was he planning on going to Diaz after that? Not to mention, he could have sent Matz out to start the inning and Lugo could have been the 1st guy to come in if he needed help.

Let's not even mention that he could have gone to another reliever there too. Familia has been lights out for a while now and should start to get these kind of situations again. He did walk two last night, but he's getting there. Gsellman could have been called on too, if the concern was a lefty facing multiple power hitting RHH.

During the game, I didn't think it was a bad move to go to Lugo, but when it came out that it wasn't something that the team was preparing, regardless of score, and Lugo was rushed to warm up, you can't do that to the guy. Just send Matz out there until Lugo is ready. They could even have made Matz warm up, get set to face Donaldson, and then pulled him before he threw a pitch to give Lugo the extra time. Mismanagement of the game and misplaced trust that Diaz was going to get the job done in the 9th if they got there.

Yanks on autopilot rolling the O's for the past 2 months, really not much to talk about. "Double digit runs scored against the O's and win by only 3-5 runs due to suspect pitching **yawn**"

Mets are in the midst of a potentially historic comeback (which has somewhat stalled)- lots to talk about.
