It seemed like Junior was he only guy not juicing. I'd take him over bonds in a roidless universe any day so long as he promised not to run into walls.

In baseball, anyone can beat anyone in a 7 game series.

The way Junior's body fell apart I have my doubts on him being clean.

I think the vast majority of players from 85-05 or so used PEDs at some stage of their career. You can see various guys in that stretch who put up these crazy good seasons out of nowhere for awhile then fell off the face of the earth. Even now there are many guys I think are using stuff but are sharp enough to know what isn’t detected. Just from watching the NL East and the Mets there are two guys in particular I believe are using something and those are are Charlie Culberson and Ryan Zimmerman. Notice Zimmerman has had one injury after another this year after he went balls to the wall in 2018 after he had a few down years and Culberson was a fringe type guy before he got picked up by ATL and now is a 300 hitter

To be fair - this describes Zimmerman's entire career. This isn't recent.

Productive when healthy, but always injured.

Lost by two but the game never felt close. Zero energy tonight.

It was such a strange game. Never could get a big hit and the Braves got broken bat, sinking liners to fall in for them. That 3rd run was essentially a floater and a broken bat.

You also knew Frazier was done running on Acuna, but you had to send him with 2 outs and the pitcher coming up, or worse Altherr. Then McNeil going down trying to hustle getting on in the 9th. A whole lot when wrong last night and it was close at the end. Hopefully they can get a break or two tonight, but with McNeil likely done for this series, it's going to be rough to scratch out a game here. Matz needs to be there for them tonight and they'll need something out of Frazier/Ramos/Lagares (who had 4 hits last night lol).

Speaking of the hitter up after Lagares that was more dumb managing by Mickey. Wheeler has to be in the on deck circle there. He’s obviously never coming back for the next inning but Fried was at 97 pitches when Lagares AB started and the Braves had both an LHP and RHP warming. Odds are once you put Altherr in the on deck circle Snitker is going to go to the RHP. You then have to burn him to use Guillorme or Panik. If you keep Wheeler there and the Braves go to the RHP once both he and Wheeler are announced you can go to Guillorme or Panik and then if Snitker wants to go to Blevins that’s fine. You made him burn a player and not you

Definitely some tough luck out there lately. Stroman and DeGrom both induced some weak hits, infield singles, drop-in singles but the defense let in runs. However, you can't keep giving up first-inning runs and playing behind. Comeback magic eventually runs out, and playing from behind wears people out.

Matz is brutal away from home. Going to be tough. Have to find a way to scrap a win though.

Yeah McNiel being out for likely a few weeks(I don't buy 10 days when it comes to hammy injuries...sorry) is going to sting and leave some skid marks...big time. When I was thinking we could play around .500 ball during this stretch and we'd be fine heading into the final 2 week push mid-September, McNiel was part of the equation.

Withought him tho....wow, it's going to be tough to maintain this solid play of the past month, as he's been pretty much the catalyst for most Met rallies this year and he plays solid D wherever he is on the field.

Looks like Panik and our new "stud" Lagares(lol) are going to need to play alot bigger roles than we thought or had hoped....GULP!!!

is that 10 normal days or 10 mets days? nimmo has been ready to begin rehabbing in the next 7-10 days for 4 months?

I feel like the argument for that is just as strong in the other direction. As in, once he hit a certain age his game fell off a cliff, where if he was on gear, maybe he keeps it up and doesn't fall apart.

It's the 10 day IL. Who knows though. That was just the bare minimum information they had to put out.

Reuben Tejada coming back with a vengeance. He's had a grudge since 2015 to unleash on the NL.

Tejada coming up doesn't mask that we have 4 OF on this team and two of those guys are Altherr and Lagares. This move Conforto back to RF predominantly and the OF defense should be a little better because of this. Need to be on the waiver wire and snatch up an OF quickly. Anyone goes down and it's a real mess.

Really wonder if they think Rajai Davis gets claimed if they ever try and send him back down and that's why he isn't up. Could have went with him over Tejada, could have DFAd Altherr and called him up, but here we are.

You are clearly in the minority on this one unless this revisionist history that Griffey according to you was a roid user slipped thru the cracks.

I don't recall any print publication, talk radio, any talking head on ESPN, you name it during the steroid era of the 90s, Griffey's name ever come up as a suspected user. Neither did I hear afterwards in the 2000's when the injuries started to mount for Junior that roids was suspected to be the reason he all of a sudden had injuries.

I just did a google search and nothing credible at all came up that Junior was a roid user. So pardon me for being a bit vexed as to why you suspect Junior was a roids user yet no one else has come up with any proof or even suspects it....kind of bizarre actually.

Yankees v Orioles is like that South Park episode when the DRW come to town to play the Denver pewee team.

I don't believe they said anything good on Nimmo til 10-14 days ago and he is indeed now beginning rehab games. I’m not too optimistic on him though as that tends to be an issue that needs surgery to be resolved more often than not. It may not be next week or next month or even next year but odds are this will plague him from time to time and he will eventually have to get the disk removed. When you do that’s usually 6-8 months before you’re back playing

Fine he was clean. He was also an inferior player compared to Bonds.

As I said, we'll agree to disagree on your thoughts that the roids aided Bonds was better than the clean Griffey...let's move on.

Now about that Acuna guy....
I am amazed at what he can do at such a young age. He is the most exciting player I have seen in a long time. He might make 40-40 this year. If stays healthy he will have an amazing career.

The Braves signed him for 10 years/ 100 million. At this point that is a steal for them.

Ken Griffey's highest OPS in a season is 1.076

A 1.076 OPS would be tied for Bonds' 8th best season.

Griffey's highest OPS+ in any season ever is 171. Bonds averaged a 182 for his entire 22 year career. They aren't comparable.
