I understand that the PTBNL is likely a '13 draftee because of the 1 year rule... but Meadows' name is the one i'm hearing the most in speculation.

Personally, I'd have been ecstatic with one of: Taylor, Jones, Arbet.

But Meadows would be a coup.

Where are you seeing Meadows' name? I don't see any credible sources bringing his name up.

Pineda is so Pejorative Slured. Come on man you gotaa be more discrete with your pine tar placement, putting it so conspicuously on your neck is just asking to be thrown

pretty sure lester had green stuff in his glove in game 1 of the world series last year but i guess that wasn't a big deal or anything.

Pineda has to be more discrete, but John Farrell just opened up pandora's box.

Why is Clay Buckholz hair always wet?

I think Pineda is the one that really opened the box. When you're that conspicuous AGAIN, you basically force your opponent's hand.

I don't think it goes anywhere from here though. I don't think either manager wants to go that route. My guess is that Girardi is far more annoyed with Pineda than Farrell.

EDIT: This article pretty much confirms my suspicions: http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...ineda-sticky-situation-leave-pine-scar-season

Anyone go to last night's (4/23) Mets game?

Looking for a ticket stub and possibly program. Thank you kindly.

Pineda is a neanderthal. That being said, he's also a good pitcher. He just needs to not be an idiot.

This is and will continue to be blown way out of proportion though. Most pitchers do this stuff, they just aren't dumb enough to make it so obvious.

I can't wait for Lester and Bucholz next start vs Yankees. Every inning go out there and check on them.

It's safer for batters to hit against guys who use stuff in cold weather. The batters usually want pitchers to use stuff because it's way less dangerous.

It is incredibly common. The only reason this is a big deal is because Pineda smeared it across his head instead of doing it like every other pitcher does and just put it on the inside of their glove.

Oh agreed. Most pitchers use it. Pineda was dumb to leave it on his neck. However for how dumb that was, Yankees need to do the same to Boston each time those "cheaters" take the mound.

Nice job by the Mets during the brutal first 22 games..12-10 isn't too bad and with a little offense they could have gone easily 15-7...Sucks because if we had Harvey this year we probably could've contended for a WC spot even with this putrid offense

As a Mets fan, I would've gladly signed up for 12-10 going into the season. With that said, we've had good starts like this before and faded away in June & July. Overall, we've had great outings from our rotation, our bullpen has been good although they are heavily mismanaged by TC. Simply put, for us to sustain any .500 baseball from here on out, we need to get the bats going.

Also very excited about what our pitching staff will look like next year once we get Harvey back and Syndergaard & Montero enter the picture.

Next year is the year we should expect to contend with Syndergaard up and Harvey back. Still need another bat.

However, with 5 games against Miami and Philly coming up, we can get to 16-11 with a 4-1 record, which would be fantastic.

I'd be thrilled if the Mets finished .500 or better this year. Need some confidence going into next year.

Pineda is far from a neanderthal. He's a good kid, just naive. Also, literally everyone uses pine tar.

I know he's not hitting for power, but Brandon Nimmo is hitting .364 with a .490 OBP thanks to 19 walks in 20 games. A dose of super high on-base guys is what this lineup desperately needs too.

After going 4-4 with a 2B and HR last night, Nimmo is hitting .407 with a 1.080 OPS in 24 games. That's absolutely unbelievable for anyone, let alone a kid that just turned 21 playing in the FSL.

His last 10 games he has an OPS of 1.249. Hitting .459 with 13 walks. Remember last season when people (idiots) were writing him off as a bust?

Who woulda thunk having a wrist injury would affect his ability to hit a baseball? :sarcasm:

At least one team showed up in philly tonight 6-1 Mets Neise was great

I don't know what the Mets are going to do next year with their rotation.

Harvey, Wheeler, Syndergaard, Niese, Gee, Colon, Mejia, and Montero could all be considered major league starters come next year. That's why I wasn't crazy about the Colon signing cause it was just taking a roster spot away from a younger pitcher who could probably be more effective than a 41 year old, 300 pounder.

Still think they are very weak at the plate. Murphy and Wright are really are only dangerous hitters.

Lagares is turning into a solid hitter to compliment his phenomenal fielding and terrific arm.

I think they lack a true Clean-Up hitter. Your #4 hitter needs to be able to pop 30 homers and hit .270 about. Duda and Granderson might hit 20-30 homers but they will bat .220 and strikeout often.

Hopefully one of these young guys will become one, but they will need to test the free agent market to find one which doesn't always work out for them.

Depending on where the Mets are in the standings, they could look to deal Colon at the deadline. If he producing there could be teams lining up for him.
