What do the Mets see in Duda? Follow the money trail with the Wilpons...I bet Ike was making twice as much as Lucas...and if they both hit 220 higher salary will go

If you come in and mash the ball for a couple months, the Mets will give you another couple years at 1B to rediscover your magic.

Where's the guy who said Jeter is done this year, has reached base safely in every game he's played so far and currently on a 9 game hitting streak (although that could end today).

I'm not your guy, but dude:

"I find it's always best to judge a player and start bragging about his performance after 66 plate appearances." - No one ever

He's no rookie and since he's batting well, I think it's a pretty good sign that he still has something left in the tank. Some people were counting him out completely.

He's a soon to be 40 shortstop. The wheels could fall off at any time. Just from a cursory glance at fangraphs you can see that his K rate is up, he's not hitting for any power, and he's making hay off a high BABIP. That doesn't scream sustainable production to me, especially when you factor in his defense.

So it's ok to judge him based off of like 20 at bats like the other guy was doing? Also his BABIP is right in line with his career numbers. I don't see how it's unsustainable. Jeter has always been good at finding holes when he puts balls in play. It's been arguably his greatest attribute and the reason he is top 10 in hits all time. If he's making contact with the ball, there's a good chance he'll get on base.

I'm not expecting him to be a world beater, but he's not finished at all.

He's showing more than Wheeler has to this point.
Wheeler will be fine. He got off to a a slow start last year then he was pretty unhittable. Fans need to start being pateint with younger players. i say teh same thing about Darnaud. Darnaud was a top prospect for years but injuries slowed his process down a bit now he is starting to look more comfortable. Not everyone can be a start right away like harvey

It's not an indictment of Wheeler. Mejia's just flat out better so far. It'd be hard for to ask for more than he's giving us.

I think Wheeler is pitching better than his numbers suggest. Walking 3 batters per 9 (career low) compared to just over 4 last season. His xFIP is full run lower than his ERA and that BABIP is unsustainably high (good thing for a pitcher).

Control has always been an issue for Wheeler but Mejia has been the wilder one so far. Walking 5.56 per 9 will at some point come back and bite you on the ass.

So far I think the Yankees are a really good ball club if they stay healthy. That of course is a major challenge.

Any word on who the PTBNL is in the Ike trade? I've seen a lot of speculation that its Austin Meadows, their 1st round pick in last June's draft.

How can that be? Where is that speculation coming from? He's already a top 5 prospect for that team. Seems unlikely.

The speculation is that it's someone from their 2013 draft since those guys can't be traded yet. I haven't seen Meadows' name come up anywhere and would be completely shocked if it turned out to be him.

I understand that the PTBNL is likely a '13 draftee because of the 1 year rule... but Meadows' name is the one i'm hearing the most in speculation.

Personally, I'd have been ecstatic with one of: Taylor, Jones, Arbet.

But Meadows would be a coup.

Additionally, I believe the Mets and Pirates were engaged in conversations this winter about Davis and the Mets asked for one of their top 10 prospects. They declined.

Meadows is currently listed as their #4 prospect, but he's straight out of HS. Meaning not only will he be 4-5 years away, he is raw and thus has a lot of potential to go bad along the way. Trading for a guy ranked, let's say 8th on the same list, but who is steadily dominating AA and AAA at a later age, is a safer bet. Meadows has the higher ceiling, but with a longer ETA and a higher risk.

Pirates could have gotten desperate at the 1b position. No one was stepping up. Meadows would surprise me but wouldn't hit me from left field. And would be yet another solid move by Alderson to restock our farm.
