The worst part about Jeter is that it will take him hitting. 056 in late August until Girardi moves him down the order.

He's been fine, considering he's coming back from injury. Jeez.....

Bat speed has nothing to do with injury.

I'm going to assume you played baseball growing up.....when you miss an entire season due to injury (which I did) it takes time to catch back up to the game. Considering Jeter barely played at all last year, his bat speed looks fairly decent.

In time, it will come around. He had a huge hit today. He had two hits yesterday. He'll never run the bases the same, but the bat is coming around.

If Jeter stays healthy, he is, by a wide margin, the best option we have a SS.

And no, giving up a 1st round pick for a year of S. Drew is not worth it. WHo also, will not hit as well as Jeter this year.

It makes me sick to see people react to baseball players based on the first 25 games of the season. Especially one who has given Yankees fans as much as Jeter has.

Hasn't he earned the benefit of the doubt at this point? Even if he decline to a 260 hitter, that's better then anything we'd get without him.

Completely disagree with the idea that previous accomplishments and treatment of fans should be considered when making lineup decisions, unless its a situational/split opportunity.

Jeter hurt his ankle in October of 2012 after a very good regular season. That was almost 20 months ago.

He has no range, doesnt hit for power and no longer catches up to mid-90s fastballs. I dont want him out of the lineup. I don't want him batting second against righties.....he has an OPS under .700 the last two full seasons against righties.

Last night, Bartolo Colon shut down the Braves for seven, followed by Kyle Farnsworth and Jose Valverde. Average age: 38. The Mets have some guys that are old as ****.

Theres a guy in the Mets farm system, plays for Savannah, who pitched 3 innings a couple of nights ago and struck out 9.

He may be far away, and may never develop, but that's filthy.

Stadium is ****in empty. 25K no more.

Baseball badly needs something to make it interesting again. Their attendance issues are league-wide.

Say what you want about the steroid-induced late 90's/early 2000's, but the long ball got ***** in the seat, the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry was red hot, and the sport was must see TV. Thats regressed badly in the last decade - football is America's pastime now.

Akeel Morris. He's a kid that's been in the system for a few years, drafted out of the Virgin Islands. He has always had wicked stuff, but control problems. The control has gotten better each year, particularly when he made a full time switch to the bullpen last season. He killed the NYP league last season, and has 11K in 4IP at Savannah. Another exciting arm in the Mets' system.

I try and follow as many prospects as I can that they get.

Reyes was a fun one to watch, especially the spring training before he was officially on the roster. I remember, I was like 13 at the time, I proclaimed he'd be the next big thing.

Ever since, I've definitely tried to catch up more. Loved Niese and Parnell when they were coming up. Both have unfortunately had injury problems that have plagued their success.

2 years ago, I thought Michael Fulmer could really make some noise. And a couple years before that Brad Holt was also a potential guy that could break out. But MLB prospects have such a higher failure rate than prospects at other sports, it really is a crap shoot.

My top 10 prospects: Syndergaard, Smith, Nimmo, Montero, DeGrom, Matz, Herrera, Flores, Puello, Plawecki

3 pitchers, 7 position hitters. Sandy needs to draft a promising starting prospect again in the next 2 drafts. Either this year, or next year.

The SECOND I turn on the Mets game, they talk about Trouts slow start and he hits a HR.

SSS and whatnot, but Nimmo is dominating so far, with an OPS over 1000 and an OBP over 400.

I still have high hopes for Nimmo. I think his ceiling is a 4 WAR CFer. Hopefully he can continue to play in center, the scouts seem to be mixed on his defense but more guys have been positive recently.

It's really annoying hearing the guy that's yelling on every pitch during the Mets game. Somebody needs to punch him in the throat.

Jeter is just horrid defensively. Sad to see.

His range is bad but he's steady as a fielder and his arm is still good. With the amount of shifting that seems to be commonplace in baseball now, they can limit the ground he needs to cover in most situations. It might be better for the team if he played 3B where he'd probably actually be above average. Still, saying that Jeter is a horrid defender is a bit of an embellishment because he still does most of the things necessary to be a good defender. He might just be a bad (bottom third of the league but not the worst) SS because of the range.

But, in the end, he'll still be a positive for the Yankees if he can get on base better than most SS. We're only 10 games in but if Jeter can hit around .280 and get on base around .360 (currently at .286/.375), he'll easily make up the "range runs" he gives up in the field. Only Tulo and Hanley put up numbers much better than that. It's also good enough to bat him in the 2-hole, even if Gardner-Ellsbury makes more sense (I'd have Jeter bat 7th in this Yankees lineup).

Basically, I think you're embellishing how "bad" he's been because he's just getting back to game speed and he's actually been good to this point. If he plays like this all year, he'll be an above average shortstop at the very least.

OMG yes was that ever annoying!!! Punch in the throat was perfectly put...I saw Ibanez hit that homer the pitch before Grande threw it...That was a get me over fastball....Turned it off furious after that..Thank god for Wrecker

Huh? Jeter is close to batting .300, and has an OBP of .375. :shakehead

It's not worth trying to convince him. Jeter looks great so far for what he's gone through. His last full season was absolutely superb. Last season was a mess, but it's the first time he's ever had anything like that in his career. I don't expect him to hit 330 this year, but if he hits 270-280, he is miles better then anything else we would have had at SS. His start this season has been extremely promising.

On another note, I'm going to the Yanks game tonight at 8PM. Driving their from LI. What is a legitimate time I should leave. Would 7PM be OK?

Yeah Jeets! Yeah Jeets! LOL.

Glad the Metsies pulled it out. Granderson and Wright really need to get their **** together soon though.
