Sooo, is it too early to bring out the Mets 2014 tank-fest banners? Between the bullpen and the questionable offense I'm thinking we've got a good shot at another high pick.

Yep, we're a ****show again. Bring out the tanks!

This Mets squad looks like an abortion (other than our starting pitching and a select few players).

If Terry actually starts EYJ over Lagares, I suggest we riot like Vancouver.

EYJ is such trash.

terry is awful. dude has to go.

lagares is head and shoulders one of the brightest stars in this organization. period.

this team didnt need this start but with the pen as bad as it looks to be, the shortstop position being manned by a guy who cant hit and who won the spot by default, a catcher who supposedly is a stud who hasnt hit a lick since he got here, a pair of 1st basement who collectively stink and eyj in lf, what do we expect ?

to be swept at home opening week is just terribad

its hard to be a mets fan. :help:

I don't love Collins but what exactly do you expect him to do? All the sudden transform Duda, Davis and Tejada into legit major leaguers? Create a position that Dan Murphy can play? Change the bullpen from being either unproven kids and over the hill clunkers into experienced in their prime guys?

My bigger issue is with Sandy and his plethora of GMs. They haven't found talent. They haven't scoured other teams farms systems and found the guy who has been buried. They haven't found the guy who slipped through the cracks. And that critique has been true since Sandy and Co took over.

He's batting EY at leadoff and talked in spring training about how they were leaning toward starting him over Lagares. Collins is an imbecile.

Season ended when Harvey got hurt last August as far as I was concerned. This is an absolute disaster of a start though.

More like decade ended. Harvey's arm was toast after about 130 innings yet they continued to use him. :shakehead

Sandy hasn't found talent? I'll agree to disagree.

The problem is that the talent he's found is not ready to make an impact yet.

If David Wright was 2 years younger, it wouldn't be a big deal.

The Mets have the same problem the Rangers have. Incompetent ownership.

The Wilpons are cheapskates, liars, and theives. They're obsessed with the Dodgers and would rebrand the team if they could.

Mets won't win a thing with them at the helm.

I WISH some big-shot billionare would buy them, tear down that Ebbets knock-off that is in the middle of downtown Baghdad, fire the entire organization, from GM to mail-room delivery boy, find prime real estate in Manhattan and build a new park there, name it Murphy-Kiner Stadium and start building a winner.

What talent has he found? Wheeler, Syndergaard and d'Arnaud were known prospects. Where's the other talent? How is it that there are no other options at 1b,2b and SS? How is it that the farm system is devoid of position players?

Putting aside the fact that you're ridiculously not giving Sandy credit for the Beltran and Dickey trades, you're missing some names. Rafael Montero's a great prospect. Other talented arms include Matz, Fulmer, DeGrom, Mateo, etc. The best bats are in the lower minors, but that doesn't mean the system doesn't have them. Dominic Smith is rated very, very highly. Rosario's extremely talented. And Nimmo has hit very well when not sidelined by a wrist injury. In the higher levels, both Puello and Plawiecki have their fans.

Now it's true that there aren't a lot of major league ready bats at this point, but that's because they focused on building up the pitching in the system first and all of their high positional picks were drafted out of high school, which means they'll obviously take longer to develop. Rebuilding through youth is not a quick fix. There's a reason people freak out about super young guys like Trout, Harper, Machado, and Bogaerts. Mega talents that shoot through the minors like them are the exception, not the norm. Look at the Cubs. Epstein is in his third year there and they have one of the very best systems in the game, but that team is still a few years from contending. The advantage of building from within comes from its sustainability and cost-controlled nature, not its speed.

Absolutely ignorant and uncalled for.

Lol because there's so much prime real estate in Manhattan large enough to put an entire new park. Give me a break.

Back on topic, I was expecting more out of Nova last night. His control has never been great but that was almost Burnett-esque. I think he's a key piece to the Yankees rotation this year, so hopefully it's just a fluke.

My wife is from Queens. I've spent a lot of time in the area around Citi/Shea. Willets Point is like a war zone. A slum. Its disgusting.

The comment about the Wilpons being Dodgers fans, its well documented that they were. Citi was built to resemble Ebbetts. It had too much Dodger connection until Mets fans raged about it and forced the Wilpons to make adjustments around the park.

I was being facetious about tearing it down and building in Manhattan.

The Mets need to be rid of the Wilpons. They are a poison.

War Zone might not be the right words. More like post-apocalyptic ruins.

I really do hope that the Willets Point Development happens, but it's wishful thinking. It might start to take shape in the next 5 years or so, but until the end of the 2010 decade, we will still see the same eyesore.

They did give all those auto body shops eviction notices, but a lot of them are still there.

Also it's kind of nice that they are extending the 7 line into Penn Station. Gonna make it that much easier to get to the games.

Terry is a clown. Lagares is a legit talent and defensively he's gonna be a gem. Why Terry even considered anyone but him in cf is mindboggling.

And talent wise, this organization is making huge strides. Young power arms and one of the best young catchers in baseball ( so I'm told lol) and a legit 1st base prospect with lefty power.

The dickey trade was money and the Draft has been more than solid imo. We have talent.

Will Terry use it properly ? That's my issue.

Ozone Park/Jamaica checking in. He's right. It's absolutely disgusting here and Citi. Went to the game last night. WP looks like it belongs in the favelas in Rio.

Season aint over for the mets quite yet liek some have said. the Nationals were a tough team to play teh first series and the mets have a brutal april schedule. However they bounced back nice this series. As long as we win the next few series we will be fine. The homers are starting to come all over the lineup. hell even teh bullpen doenst look as terrible. Also we have Syndergaard and Montero comign soon
